Philippine beauty ejected from Miss Universe contest (born overseas and out of wedlock)

MANILA (AFP) – The Philippines' entry for the Miss Universe beauty pageant has been disqualified after local organisers discovered she was born overseas and out of wedlock, a contest official said Wednesday.

Maria Venus Raj, 21, was set to represent her country in August and begin charity work after winning the Miss Philippines-Universe competition early this month.

But the journalism graduate was stripped of her title on Monday after the foundation that runs the local competition discovered she had been born in Qatar to an Indian man who was not married to her Filipina mother.

Her birth certificate stated she was born in the Philippines to married Filipinos.

"We found out about the inconsistencies after the coronation night," Lilia Ambay, of Miss Philippines-Universe Charity Incorporated, told AFP.

She was stripped of her position not due to citizenship issues but because her birth certificate contained false information, Ambay said.

I think the problem is that she probably knew the certificate was false. JMHO.

Her last name was Raj, so she probably wasn’t hiding that her father was Indian.

How in the world is information on a birth certificate Barack Hussein Soetoro Odinga Whatever 0bama's fault?

The problem is, the "Miss Philippines Pageant" officials did a better job of vetting their candidate than the United States have done of vetting our supposed "President".

I don't disagree with your point at all. My point is that when my birth certificate was filled out, I didn't have much to say about what was on it.

If the contestant knew the rules and knew that the certificate was false, it's a whole 'nother thing.

Article is not clear if the "birth certificate" spoken of was one she provided, and thus may have falisified, or the "real" one from the appropriate authorities.

IOW, did she provide a forged BC? Like someone we know.

If the contestant knew the rules and knew that the certificate was false, it's a whole 'nother thing.

Or if she or her "facilitator" generated the false BC.

Lots of expats work in the Middle East - Indians and Filipinas are among the most common. Since they tend to live and interact together, away from the Arabs, it should not be a surprise when affairs happen.

The Arab domestic-aid rape / slavery thing is not really relevant in this instance.

It happens quite a bit if you live over there a while the stories are quite common.

I was there for six years and heard the stories, My Wife is a Filipina ,I have heard where young girls are sent to work as a housekeeper for a guy who uses them as he wishes this was common.
