There's nothing more annoying that being a 40-year-old serious actress trapped in a manufactured teen idol's body and facing nothing but pithy criticism from idiotic entertainment reporters and critics.
And so it is that Miley Cyrus, in a new interview with Reuters, has made it known that she demands respect.
Thanks to a new movie -- "The Last Song," which promises loads of schlock and yawn -- the Disney-groomed dynamo is in the midst of a press rampage. She has, in fact, been all up in our Celebritological faces for the past week or so, beginning with an uninspiring short-shorts-clad mentorship on last week's "American Idol."
In the afore-mentioned Reuters interview, Cyrus talked about her respect-deficient reputation, kissing boyfriend Liam Hemsworth on set and her one-woman strategy for sabotaging news stories about herself....

Well then, kiddo- EARN it.
She’s going down the same road that Spears went down, with her father hitting the gas pedal.
Last time I checked, respect had to be earned.
Stay off the pole.
Wow. Is she not slutty enough or degrading children’s morals quickly enough to please the entertainment reporters or something?
Only Aretha Franklin gets R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Sock-it-to-me!
Demanding it all but assures that she'll never get it.
Is this an April Fool’s joke?
Did you read the quotes in that piece? They were totally innocuous. It was a hatchet job. Not sure why, but they did a job on her.
Pole-dancing one’s way through puberty does NOT seem to me like a good way to earn respect.
It is my opinion that this young lady has been very poorly served by her parents - particularly her father.
A Radiohead rep said this after snubbing Miley at the Grammys. “When Miley grows up, she’ll learn not to have such a sense of entitlement.”
And her mother, which I think is her manager if I’m not mistaken. She’s still just a kid but, acts like she knows it all. That’s what happens when children are allowed to do whatever they want to, get to much fame to fast, and neither parent with any wisdom to help guide her.
She’s made more $$ in such a short span that she should be set for life forever, even at her young age . Tell them to go screw themselves and laugh all the way to the bank.
Aretha Franklin...”Think”...
so did britney and lilo, look where it got them.
Brittany still has much more $$$ than I’ll ever have unless I hit a big lottery .

Ha. Exactly.
Hey Miley. YOU’RE a TEEN POP IDOL, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT?! Want respect? Invent something or do something worthy of respect.
She’s a teenager. Many of them act like they know it all.
Earth to Billy Ray: Yeah, the money’s great now. What price will Miley pay later? Do the names “Britney Spears” or “Lindsay Lohan” ring a bell?

Is there anything they don't know?
That’s true, lucky for me I didn’t have a platform to speak out of my ignorance and arrogance. This will come back to haunt her.

Yo Miley,
Seen em once, seen em both. Better focus on talents other than a exposing your body and gyrating on a stripper pole. You were embarrassing on American Idol.
PS; And lose the cross as a decoration for your tart wear. You, my dear, are no Mary Magdalene.
Miley is appealing to the flesh like the pics of her showing off her @$$ (not bare) however, I have no respect for her. My 11 year old son hates her as well. If I was her dad, I would be keeping a very close eye on her.

Funny you should mention that:

There are about a zillion things going wrong in America and the world to target for criticism. So it seems rather petty to go after teenager Miley Cyrus so vociferously as have many in this thread. Some of the comments are disgusting and immature and not worthy of Free Republic. Don’t you people have daughters?
Gosh, despite her relatively conservative beginnings, she turned out wilder than we’d hoped she be! Write her off completely! Maybe we can push her to the other side, make it a self-fulfilling prophecy and make her truly hate country and God and family and everything else.
I instead wish her the best, and will pray for her to handle the fame better, and that her eyes will see the truth, and that she will mature and use her gifts in a miraculous way despite “the world” doing its worst to corrupt her.
I’d hit it.
You’re a good person
“If I was her dad, I would be keeping a very close eye on her.”
Based on some of their public photos, I’d say he keeps too close of an eye on her for comfort...
Should we respect Miley Cyrus? The question demands a pole.
