Great moments in pop nudity: Erykah Badu, John & Yoko, Tori Amos and more

Erykah Badu did a brave thing/made a shrewd marketing decision...

What are your favorite moments in provocative pop flesh-baring? I'm not talking about simple titillation, but about nakedness risked to make a point...

John & Yoko, "Two Virgins" album cover: The famous full-frontal shot of the Beatle and his life partner...

Carolee Schneemann, "Interior Scroll": ...1975 performance piece, in which the groundbreaking feminist body artist pulled a thin roll full of writing from, yes, her interior...

Patti Smith, "Easter" album cover: A flimsy nightgown covers Smith's flesh in the Lynn Goldsmith photo on her 1978 album. But she exposes something far less frequently seen among celebrities: armpit hair...

The Slits, "Cut" album cover: Loincloths. Mud... the image was a bit, well, Tarzan-me-Jane...

Bow Wow Wow, "See Jungle!" album cover: This group, assembled by master pop illusionist Malcolm McLaren, is usually viewed as an exercise in exploitation...

Madonna, "Sex": Where to start (or stop!) with Madonna?...

Riot Grrrl: The mid-1990s was an amazing time for women setting the rock club on fire. Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill, performing with "SLUT" scrawled across her stomach; Courtney Love putting her leg up on the monitor to show off her (sometimes, lack of) undies...

Tori Amos, piglet suckling photograph, "Boys for Pele":...it was no surprise that she went where few had gone before, posing for a photograph by Cindy Palmano of her breast-feeding a young pig.

Rage Against the Machine, PMRC Protest: At Lollapalooza 1993 ...caused a stir by standing onstage for nearly 15 minutes, naked except for duct tape on their mouths and the letters "PMRC" scrawled across their chests...

Janet Jackson's Rolling Stone magazine cover...

Yes, she made the point that she's a crass, tasteless person who believes that breaking the law to promote her career at the expense of other people's choice (and their children's choice) is justified. She should have been arrested, instead the idiots are lauding her.

everyone who is shown in the background should file a lawsuit. They never signed a waiver to appear in the movie.

She wanted to be arrested.

I'd have obliged her...and then kept her overnight for observation. Let her sit in a real jail for a day.

“The famous full-frontal shot of the Beatle and his life partner... “

Still “seared in my memory” and wish it weren’t...

Patti Smith is such a revolting skank. Not an ounce of talent or beauty in the broad.

Bill O’Reilly mentioned it on his radio minute last night.

He said she did it for publicity. Which he gave her.

Badu. Any bets there would have been cries of "Racism" if anyone had arrested her?

Nudists (remember them?) and/or anyone posing nude (especially socalled musicians or socalled actresses/actors),
are actually the Last Puritans, rather than the trailblazers/sexual pioneers they and their craven media
struggle mightily to make them out to be.
In the same way, (vide Mark Twain and his famous quotation about keeping your mouth shut) that it’s better to remain silent if you have nothing intelligent to say, it’s better to remain clothed unless you’ve got something spectacular to show.
