He ran into a Duke knee. The WVU guy was taken to the dressing room in a cart. My guess is a torn cartilage or ligament.

Collided with a Duke player while going for a rebound, appears to have twisted his knee.

Duke wins, btw, no surprise given the way most of the game went, WVU wasn’t really in it for the entier second half.

Duke vs. Butler for the championship.

He was going for a layup; not a rebound.

From this incident, you can really tell Huggins LOVES his players.

I think you're asking about the play at the ten minutes mark of the 2nd half. CBS didnt show a replay, but looked to me like West Virginia's Butler was out of control driving toward basket in paint, and charged into Duke Center, Zoubek. And, Butler was called for the charge. Tough way to get hurt, but refs had the right call. He charged.

The lead was 15 points with six and a half minutes left when Butler was injured. Duke has not given up leads this year.

If he had stayed in, the final score would not have been a 21 point differential, but the end result would have been the same.

My best wishes to him, and I hope he has a quick recovery and a great career.

Do you mean only one WV player HAS a knee and that distinguishes him?

I still think Huggins looks like a Soviet bureaucrat from a 1960's movie or Francis from Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

Butler (Milan Miracle II-For those not from Indiana, look it up!) has a REAL CHANCE to beat Duke...
West Virginia would have run all over them.

CBS didnt show a replay,...

I saw one. I hope I wasn't hallucinating! It was one of those that didn't look like much. I guess if you looked close you could see it. I think Zoubek had his knees flexed and Butler was actually blocked by his shins, so his knee was trapped in an awkward position and suffered a severe strain.

A lady friend who watched the game with me tonight said she thought Huggins look a lot like Alec Baldwin. Just different hair do.

You posted, He was going for a layup; not a rebound.”

Exactly right. The Duke defensive player was standing still and Butler,(the WV player) going for a layup fouled the Duke player. A reporterette described the injury as being on the outside of the player’s left knee.
This injury, as bad as it was, had no affect on the outcome of the game in my estimation as the Duke Bluedevils were unstoppable.
The showdown between Duke and Butler should be a doozy. Be sure to have plenty of popcorn and “adult beverages” handy....Thanks for that terminology, Rush.

All of the West Virginia players have a knee, in fact, two of them!

AFter the LaCross thing I have no use for Duke. If butler can beat MSU it can beat Duke. Bad refs at the MSU game by the way.

The strange thing about the NCAA tournament and the ACC, since 1982, with the exception of 2005 (and 1991 sort of), whenever an ACC team has won the Championship, it was followed by another ACC team:

1982 UNC
1983 NCSU

1992 Duke (Duke won 1991)
1993 UNC

2001 Duke
2002 Maryland

2009 UNC
2010 ??????

I live less than two miles from one of the Duke campii, and honestly, I am not sure who to root for. It’d be kind of nice to see the local guys win, and I do like Coach K in general. But Butler is such a fantastic story, and besides, if Duke loses, there’s less chance of drunken Dookies finding my neighborhood. Tough call.
