Hey! don’t go all postal on us!
I'm not the one who said you did. In fact, I've reread your posts and see nothing of the sort. That being said, it sound somewhat suspicious to me as well, on the face of it. Not being there and seeing it myself, however, I have to reserve judgment. The fact she parks in the driveway facing the street is very curious, IMO.
I've thought about what purpose a lantern would serve a mail carrier, and came up blank. Mail delivery is usually during the daytime (as the timing of your post suggests). I can't think of a time I've seen postal carriers in my neighborhood at night.
Strange...
More likely: they earn $$ by telling a gang when people have their mail held for a week or so.
Holding the newspaper or other services, same thing. NOT a good idea. Always have a trusted person pick up your mail. Why in the world would you want a stranger at the Post Office or a newspaper delivery person to know your house will be unoccupied??
Bingo. She’s casing for her friends.
I saw a postal employee do something completely unknown til now, they stepped out of the truck to put mail in my box!
Don’t laugh! It’s true! Usually they drive on by and say a car was in the way but I suppose it could be a new employee.
And...and!!! The mail was totally in the box instead of on the ground!!!
By “torchier,” do you mean one of those very tall floor lamps, like these:

In our suburbian city (35,000?) the cops tell us that if we see ANYTHING suspicious to call 911. The 911 operator will figure out who/what to send. I mentioned this at the neighborhood watch block party and the new neighbors insist that 911 is only for emergencies. Some cops showed up later to pass out badges for the kids and get some food.
The cops all agreed. To paraphrase “Call 911 and quickly. We’ll decide if it is an emergency or not. If we get a call about a suspicious vehicle, and we have a unit free, we’ll go check it out. If it is the second call in a day or so, we’ll MAKE a unit or two free.”
The other day there were two police cars and one unmarked on our block. Four cops checking out the cul-de-sac, an ally, and the footpath. After 15 minutes of checking things out they got back in their cars. I went over to one of them and asked what was going on, and if I should keep an eye out for anything.
“No. One of your neighbors thought they smelled marijuana from the house down at the end. But no one is home.”
!!! I thought for sure they were looking for some escaped convict! Of course, different cities have different policies. Even though we are a fairly large city, the cops seem to find the time even for the smallest things, as we don’t have much major crime.
Can’t disagree.
post a webcam in the window you saw her from and let it run for a few days.
