Evil clown stalks kids as birthday treat

From: NewsCore

April 15, 2010

A PSYCHOTIC-looking clown who promises to scare children senseless can be booked as a birthday surprise, the Austrian Times reported.

For a fee, actor Dominic Deville dresses up in a deathly clown mask and contacts his child "victims" in the Swiss city of Lucerne, south of Zurich, to tell them he is watching them.

His "evil clown" service unfolds further as he teases his targets with texts, phone calls and booby-trapped letters, warning them that at some point during their birthday party, he will throw a cake in their face.

Mr Deville set up the chilling business concept after watching his favorite horror movies.

"It's all in fun and if at any point the kids get scared or their parents are concerned, we stop right there," he said, adding that most children "absolutely love" being terrified by his antics.

"Here, Timmy, here's that .44 Magnum you wanted for your birthday. Keep it under yer vest. When the evil clown comes, if he's not on his very best behavior, you know what to do."

I know it's evil, but it's for the Greater Good...

That’s not the least bit funny.

But, to paraphrase Terry Pratchett,

If it was FUNNY, a clown wouldn’t be DOING it.

By late 1975, (John Wayne) Gacy had created a performance character, “Pogo The Clown”.[35] He designed his own costumes and taught himself how to apply clown makeup.[35] Gacy painted the sharp corners at the edges of his mouth, contrary to the rounded borders that professional clowns normally employ so as not to “frighten small children”.[35] Gacy performed as Pogo at local parties and events, and though he often spoke of entertaining at children’s hospitals, there is no evidence of his doing so.[35] He appeared dressed as Pogo on more than one occasion at the Good Luck Lounge, a favorite haunt, explaining he had just performed and was stopping in for a drink before heading home.[36] Pogo the Clown Gacy became active in Chicago's Democratic Party, first volunteering to clean the party offices.[35] In 1975 and 1976, he served on the Norwood Park Township street lighting committee.[37] He eventually earned the title of precinct captain.[5] In this capacity, he met and was photographed with First Lady Rosalynn Carter, who was in town for the annual Polish Constitution Day Parade, held on May 6, 1978.[38] Gacy was directing the parade that year, for the third year in a row. Carter posed for pictures with Gacy and autographed the photo "To John Gacy. Best Wishes. Rosalynn Carter". In the picture, Gacy is wearing an "S" pin, indicating a person who has received special clearance by the United States Secret Service.[39] During the search of Gacy's house after his arrest, this photo caused a major embarrassment to the Secret Service.
