Seems you can't order a pizza these days without someone having cracked an egg in the center.
I finally relented and tried one at Jean-Georges Vongerichten's ABC Kitchen in New York. It was outstanding. A simple pizza topped with mushrooms turned wondrous when the creamy yolk spilled over the top.
Time to make my own version.
I started with a simple layer of rainbow chard, onions and garlic sauteed in olive oil. I topped that with a bit of prosciutto (think bacon and eggs) and some chunks of fresh goat cheese.
Nothing short of amazing....

I saw that in Slovenia in the mid-1980s. I think it was standard fare.

Eggs combined with cheese has been recognized as a winner for a long period of time.
I’m suprised it took so long after the invention of the Egg McMuffin for pizzarias to come up with this.

Just got back form Italy. While in Venice we passed a pizzeria that advertised “Pizza American”. It was a pizza with fried eggs and bacon...

A better addition to a pizza, espceially a plain cheese pizza, is corn: frozen or canned. Common in Japan - YUM!

I’ve been doing chorizo & egg pizzas for years. Really great with cheese and pickled sliced jalepeno’s. Kinda like nacho’s.

Yeah, eggs and pizza have been about in various parts of the world for a long time. Aussies like there’s with egg as well (and even pineapple..shudder) back in the 80’s when I was working there.
There’s always new food folks coming up that are just discovering what the rest of the world eats. They’re obviously newbs, so I wouldn’t necessarily rely on them as authorities on international food. Still, it is fun to read about their discoveries. Youthful excitement is fun to watch because all of us have been there before.

The heart-shaped pizza looks less like food than it does an artist’s abstraction of a New York woman in her mid to late 30s... with salami and cherry tomatos.

In parts of S. America (and Europe?) they put mustard on their cheese pizza.
“Meh,” says I.

Got me going. Pizza with Isaly's chipped, chopped ham, (look it up if yunz aint't from Pittsburgh n'at), maybe Isaly's sauce, cheese, egg, cole slaw and fries.
That's just a start. I'm trying to think of a pizza concoction with Bob Evan's sausage, egg and maple syrup. Maybe instead of pizza dough we use pancake batter?

I guess the concept of Breakfast Pizza, a staple of convenience stores around the midwest, has not yet reached the rarified quarters of ABC News.

While I haven't had pizza in Thailand for many year (reasons should be obvious). When we last ordered one for out then teen daughter, it came seasoned with fish sauce and prik kee nu chillies. Nasty and hot, hot, hot. BTW Anchovies are ok just not fish sauce in every bite.

To: JoeProBono
Ummmmm . . .I'll pass on that, although I do like Hawaiin type pizza (ham and pineapple).
My fave is pan pizza with fresh cooked bacon, black olives, sweet onion, bell pepper, mushrooms and extra cheese served with a cold Sam Adams Summer Ale (OK . . .2 Sam Adams . .)!
Now I'm hungry . . .

I think I have gone this concept one better.
I am on the "Atkins" diet so pizza is off the list...
My teenager likes pizza so I came up with an resolution to that "what's to eat?" dilemma.
He gets his pizza and I take a couple of slices and scrape the toppings into the fold of an omellette..tadaahh Pepperoni, Sausage, Cheese, Tomato Omellette.

I am going to forward this thread to my Bro who owns an Italian restaurant. Pizza is his speciality.
I don't think he'll make up one of these..but who knows?

There are not a lot of things (in my opinion) that do not go good with fried eggs. If fried eggs don't work... bacon most certainly does.....
Of course bacon should be 1st choice.

There is no better food on earth than a bacon cheeseburger with a fried (runny) egg on top. With a thick black and white shake. And shoestring fries.

You used to be able to buy deep fried Snickers candybars at the Memphis Fair. I think that covers all the food groups: sugar, fat & cholesterol.

I’m pretty sure that is found in the book of Revelations, right next to ‘streets of gold’. And if I could only choose one, I’d dump the streets of gold!
