We're in a transitional period, the birds are nesting and hunting far and wide to find nest materials and food for hatched chicks. The flowers are just starting to really pop. This time of year the only big concentrations of wading birds are the rookery areas. They hunt far and wide when feeding chicks. This is a Tri colored Heron, an amaryllis and a really pretty multicolored rose.

Did the heron come up with something?

Your use of light is fantastic. Many amateur photographers never quite figure out how to do it.

I use spot exposure and a fairly fast shutter. If the light is good you loose the distracting background. Fill flash will work too sometimes. A lot of people think it has to be dark to use flash but it’s a handy all around tool. The Sun was brilliant today, no flash needed.

You and I haven’t talked much, but I wanted to take a moment to let you know that I really appreciate the wonderful photographs you post.
My wife and I have vacationed in your town several times, including our honeymoon.
We had a “close shave from Floyd” one year, and got a tee-shirt that says so from the Sunset Grille.
Your downtown also had one of the more friendly American Legion posts we have visited. (Great Spanish Architecture in a prime location.)
Again - Thank You! for the beautiful photos, maybe we’ll see you on our next trip south!

Thanks, it is a pretty little town. I never could get away for long. It was a tough place to make a decent living, still not the best. I used to come across the San Sebastian river and smell the mud flats and the horse poop and it was perfume after some of the big cities LOL.
