Caught a bit of something on Fox News last night, some “man on the street” interviewer asking people if they’d help pay the nat’l debt. Most people said no, but he asked one lady and she said sure, she’d help. He asked her how much and she said she’d have to look at her bank balance first, as if maybe she thought she had a trillion or so bucks to spare, but wasn’t sure. She finally admitted she’d be willing to pay $100.

Why should I help the gov’t pay down its debt? They own Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Tell the government to simply refinance their current mortgage, or better yet, take out a second mortgage. By consolidating all their debt into one easy monthly payment, they will save billions of dollars.
