Woman's gown barred from Disney Paris

PARIS, - A British woman said she was humiliated when staff at Disneyland Paris refused to allow her to enter with her 8-year-old daughter because of her fancy gown.

Natasha Narula, 35, of Coventry, England, said she dressed in a $30 gown so she and her daughter, Drew, could pretend to be princesses while visiting the theme park April 1, but staff at the entrance told her she would have to change because people might confuse her for a costumed character, the Daily Mail reported Wednesday.

"I thought they were playing a joke on me because it was April Fool's Day at first," she said. "But I spoke to a manager and she said they were concerned children would think I worked there and wanted to have their picture with me."

"I didn't even have any make-up on and didn't look anything like the characters in the park, it wasn't like I was wearing a big Mickey Mouse outfit, it was just a dress," Narula said. "How can they possibly say I looked too much like a princess? I was wearing a hideous wedding dress I bought from Oxfam for 20 pounds ($30)."

Narula said she was admitted to the park after changing into jeans and a T-shirt. Drew was allowed to keep her own fancy gown due to her young age.

Sorry I’ve gotta side with Disney on this one. Their park, their rules.

If it was a man wearing such a dress, Disney would have no problems with it.

“I was wearing a hideous wedding dress...”

One has to wonder why she would wear a wedding dress that she believed was hideous. Things that make you go hmmmmm....

I think she looks nice. She and her daughter just look like they were having a day of fun. You can bet that they’ll talk about this for a long time.

I side with Disney too. When someone comes in dressed like say, Mickey Mouse, and lets the kids pose for pictures with him, and perhaps charges (which so far Disney doesn’t do). . .it’s all competing with the costumed characters Disney hires to do this.

I believe Disney does allow costume entry on Halloween, and always allows costumed children.

I agree with Disney, too. The last thing they want is someone confusing the patrons (they’re not guests) about who is or is not part of Disney’s carefully crafted, and supremely expensive image. I hate them, but they’re right.

They won’t let me in unless I put on a costume to cover the fact that I naturally look too much like one of the characters. I also so can’t tell you which one.

I had a girlfriend once refused admittance at Disneyland Anaheim because she was wearing a Mr. Zogs Sex Wax t-shirt.

But that was 25 years ago.

Isn’t 35 a little long-in-tooth to be pretending to be a princess?

BTW, the spectacles really make the outfit...

one wonders why anyone in their right mind would go to a theme park dressed like that in the first place. unless they were planning on pulling some kind of stunt.
