[NFL] Draft Busts of the 2000s: Where are they now?
Yahoo (sports) ^ | 4/20/10 | Doug Farrar

When looking at the biggest draft mistakes of the 2000s, there comes a line of demarcation that starts around 2007 - there are certain players who just don't get it right away in the NFL, and they should be given time as such. That's why 2007 is our cutoff point for draft year, though there are players we suspect will be on this list very soon...

KEYWORDS: busts; draft; nfl
Interesting list. Not familiar with all the players, though.

Ouch, poor Joey Harrington. I knew he was screwed when the Lions got him. Damn Matt Millen straight to hell. LOL. He’s back around the Portland area now. I guess he’s got nothing else to do these days.

Bush is a border line bust, but his former USC teammate Leinhart isn’t?

Isn't that sort of the point? The fact that many of them are unfamiliar is precisely because they never lived up to their draft potential.

The biggest NFL draft bust of all time is probably Leif Garrett. He was supposed to be one of the great quarterbacks of all time but never even came close to making it. A "where is he now" Wikipedia search yields up that he did have some minor success as a singer and I think he had a bit role in that "Top Secret" movie.

Ryan Leaf is in the top 10 on the all time list. Going back to 1830!;^)

"....poor Joey Harrington."

HA! And the Lions drafted four straight wide recievers in the 1st rounds to try to make him effective.
Even fans who could care less about the Lions found that painfull....

I would add the Panthers giving up two first round picks for Sean Gilbert as a bust. Only one pick was in the 2000’s though.

OF interest is the article in today’s USA TODAY concerning Tim Tebow and the NFL draft..

It is remarkably straightforward. Worth reading.

Ever since Barry “retired”, I’ve said we need to trade for new owners. The Fords don’t care if the Lions win or lose.

How did Vince Young not make the list?

I think that list was made by ut kiss @$$ Ed Clements from KLBJ.

Vince was great last season. Unlike Leinart, Vince has had two good seasons out of four, with the expectation of a strong future with the Titans.

He has the potential to be another Steve McNair. Benching him for the veteran made sense at the time. No shame in it. How long did Steve Young hold a clipboard for Joe Montana. Young will work out fine.

Matt Leinert’s performance this year will seal the deal for Kurt Warner being in the Hall. I bet the Cardinals don’t make the playoffs.
