ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Buddy the German shepherd was hailed Friday as a hero for guiding Alaska State Troopers through winding back roads to a fire at his owners' workshop.
"Buddy is an untrained dog who for some reason recognized the severity of the situation and acted valiantly in getting help for his family,...."

I have had some German Shepherds over the years very intelligent dogs....
No question about that.
Good dog !
I’m surprised the cops didn’t shoot the dog.
I saw it, too. I just sat there with my mouth open in disbelief.
This Alaska story of “Buddy” was a nice follow-up to an episode
of “I Shouldn’t Be Alive” on Animal Planet last Friday.
It included a faithful dog that “went for help” when his owner
had endured something like three days in the Utah wilderness...
after she took a serious fall down a cliff during a long-distance
training run.
This is because dogs are AWESOME!
Thanks, God :)
It’s not really funny, but I thought the same thing when the car came to a stop. “Don’t shoot the dog!!!” What a great story.
