You may want to check out http://www.spokeo.com to see what personal information is there. Spokeo.com is a new online phone book w/personal information: everything from pics you've posted on FB or web, your approx credit score, home value, income, age, etc. You can remove yourself by first searching for yourself on their site to find the URL of your page and going... to the Privacy button on the bottom of their page to remove yourself which takes you to http://www.spokeo.com/privacy. Pass this onto those you care about.
Me too. No one knows me by my real name except family and bankers.
Yes, it would. Many have already posted their names and whatever other information the site asks for, by asking to remove the info this site is collecting the info......wake up people.
LOL! They had my “information”, but virtually every piece of it was incorrect, starting with the city of residence which I haven’t lived at for 10 years, (and yes it was me because I have a very uncommon last name). I think all this site does is pull public data such as answers to magazine surveys, property record and such. Then “guesses” your income and credit score based on the averages in your area. The only thing that was remotely correct were my hobbies.
Would you like to explain why you posted a fishing site onto FR?
And Barack Obamas, too.
LOL - they’ve got mine all screwed up. They have me listed as married, (I’m not), “likes shopping” (I hate shopping), “not intersted in politics” (duh), ten years older than I really am and living in a house that’s worth $408K. My income and credit rating are also way off on there.
According to Spokeo, Barack Obama is in a relationship with no children and his age, ethnicity and gender are unknown.

One of my technonerd friends suggested that everyone stay away from this-most info is incorrect by design but by even searching on it, more correct info has been entered about you in another file! They have accomplished their purpose.
I don’t think it’s a fishing site to grab people who want to block it for privacy.
But the site’s sponsor appears to be a privacy protection company that will block you on the net, etc. Fishing for customers - more like it - the info is still there though....
Someone posted the white pages site on this thread - I was on that too - you can request taking your name off there also.
How do you go about removing your id? By the way, a lot of the info they have about me is wrong. According to them I have no children and my home is worth $1M...lol yea, fat chance of that.
Of course they "appear" to be a privacy protection company....and they then ask you to correct information that isn't correct. I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday, and neither have hackers....
Well, they found me, alright. Half the information on me is wrong, including my race and a bunch of other stuff.
My email address came back as coming out of Illinois somewhere. Weird...
Meh... don’t know if it’s worth the time and trouble to have them remove my information from their database. There are at least ten thousand other guys with my same name in the country.
Totally wrong about me and my wife.
It’s stupid. Most of the info can be found on any peoplesearch. I looked up roughly 30 friends and family members and they have everyone living in a 1M+ house while the actual house values range from about $75K to about $950K. They listed one of my white friends as Black and have people with no college degrees showing that they do and people with PhDs showing that they have no college. There are so many inaccuracies, I do not give this site any credence whatsoever. The only thing it got right usually was the age and they aren’t specific: it’ll say mid 40s or late 50s, for example. It shows horoscope. Whoopty Doo.
LOL. Exactly. I give this site no credence whatsoever.
Everyone’s house is $1M.
Maybe there are more similar sites out there... Also, some of the above sites might have been bought up by bigger name search sites.
That’s funny. Spokeo is a Jokeo.
That’s hilarious.
That could mean Legos or vibrating instruments, ma'am.
They think I live in a million dollar plus house that doesn't have central heating! Anybody who relies on infromation from these folks is an idiot.

WARNING: if you do this, they sell your email address that you provide them and you end up getting spammed!!! I did it and regret it big time!
I am not a racist anymore, because I turned black, so Barry is an skinny idiot.
Yes. They also collect any information people are willing to give up, as well as IP lists. Everyone that types their names into this "search engine" just handed out info to a bunch of hackers.......
Is not interested in politicsML/NJ
I could not find a removal process on Intellius. Do you know how to access it?
They already have your IP lists by virtue of their scrub.
Good luck!
I am on there, but everything they say about me is either a decade old or was never true in the first place. (apparently, I’m a Pisces, and I have grandchildren already - who knew!). Some of the interests it lists for me are indeed true, but then there’s about 40 of them, so no shock that they make a few correct guesses.
Thankfully I don't use facebook, twitter or any of those other "social networking" and post embarassing information about myself, but geez, what they had on me was seriously creepy. Removed myself and Mrs. USC, and am sending information onto everyone I know to do the same.
Where do these websites think they get the right to do this kind of stuff to us?
Still relevant bump.
