Florida -- 10Connects.com reports that Theresa Collier, a 73-year-old grandmother was arrested last week for slapping her 18-year-old granddaughter who was swearing at her.
Collier says she allowed her 18-year-old granddaughter, Felicia Collier, who had just gotten kicked out of Catholic school and is now enrolled in online classes, to use her computer to do homework. Felicia was kicked out for cursing at a nun, explained Collier.

yep, used and ground in HARD! and then THOSE horrible words......”your father will deal with your smart mouth when he gets home from work”. it was a long, long time ago....a different time. it makes me ill the way these kids speak to their folks now.

By the time they are at the age of being able to reproduce, you might end up with 2 or 3 clones of your original monster but I would warn you...the reproduction models are sometimes worse than the originals because now you will have ALL of them expecting you to wipe their noses and tushies all the time.
Last Christmas family dinner left me with my mouth hanging open when I saw two grown adult women doing backflips to make one particularly ungrateful and undeserving little brat happy.
I'm sorry the grandmother was arrested but it was probably too little and way too late in the game to start getting tough in this kid. She's 18. Time for tough love techniques, not slapping and spankings.
“There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers.”

If this was about disciplining a child then I would wholeheartedly agree with everyone here, but it is not. At 18 she is no ‘child’, at least not in the sense that you can effectively and constructively discipline her with a smack.
I’m 29... If I cursed at my Grandmother, Mother, Aunt, Uncle... I would be slapped also. It’s a matter of respecting your family and elders.
I will forever be grateful to my neighbor, My husband and I were lost and alone at 18 with an infant to care for and he helped us and guided us. The most valuable piece of information was to discipline from the first year. I did and I ended up with great kids.
Too many people think that bad behavior is “cute” when they are little and then expect them to change their ways when they are older and no longer cute.

The 18 year old should be in jail. Would this cop do this to his own grandmother?!!
whenever I see the ‘soap’ scene in ‘A Christmas Story’ I have to chuckle. no grinding it in, no havin’ to chomp down and teeth off chunks, no twisting and spinning the bar around etc. Ralphie got off light with his ‘treatment’!!!!!!!
Yes, Ganny screwed up. By slapping the little Shiite, she gave her the power to have her arrested. She should have just kicked her out of the house.
My grandma overheard me drop the F Bomb from inside the house one time when I was a kid outside playing in the yard, mind you it was not directed towards her nor uttered in her known presence (as far as I could tell anyway). When my dad got home, my mouth was promptly and efficaciously washed out with Fels-Naptha soap and hot water. This happened sometime between 1967 and 1971. I have to think it was closer to 1971.
P.S. I have had to punish my kids, but honestly, I don't remember the last time I had to. If you start young like you were told, it's amazing how fast they learn.
Then make sure you know who their friends are. Trust me!
I heard my son ask his misbehaving kids if they wanted him to get the big spoon. I about died laughing. It worked though.
The lazy kind. The kind that won't get up off their lazy butts to actually follow through with the never ending threats. Which become meaningless over time and the kid learns to just ignore said parent. After losing all respect for said parent, why wouldn't the kid be inclined to swear at said parent? Something like, “Why don't you just shut the f@ck up?”
You are not going to believe this...In my day, since I did not grow up in the U.S., I didn’t know what curse words were. My parents did not use them.
It is the same with my grandchildren who have been taught their manners. There teachers love them, their principals love them, even other students love them. I attended a dinner and was sitting near the superintendent of our school district, she said that there wasn’t a day that went by that she didn’t hear something good about my granddaughter, sure she was exaggerating but it was very nice to hear.
As children we were well disciplined. My father was going to his orientation to work at NASA for 2 weeks and we stayed at a brand new motel at the edge of town. The owner was quite rude and warned my parents about the 5 children behaving. Personally, I would have asked for my money back and found another motel but we stayed. When we left they bought us all kinds of gifts and the woman cried when we were leaving.
“Oh, no. Don’t expel the child. Just leave her to me.”
“Girl, you got to learn not to talk to nuns that way.”
