World's biggest beaver dam can be seen from space
The Telegraph ^ | 4 May 2010 | staff reporter

This woodland construction is the world's biggest beaver dam, which at 2,790ft is more than twice the length of the Hoover dam and can be seen from space.

The mammals use trees, mud and stone to make a type of moat where they can use their swimming skills to evade any predators.

The families live in lodges on the dams and spend their days adding to and repairing the incredible structures.

The dam was spotted by experts monitoring the size and spread of the beaver dams in North America.

It is located on the southern edge of Wood Buffalo National Park in Northern Alberta, Canada

There are two beavers and they both walk into their lodge one leaves the door open and the other one says shut the dam door.

Mike Gallagher was bitching about a beaver dam behind his house just the other day. Definition of curmudgeon, if you ask me.

Needs to be removed. I am sure no EIR was filed prior to construction.

“Their dams are also good because they slow the flow of water leading to less drought and less flooding.”

I have to disagree on the less flooding, they have dammed a creek near my land and caused the creek to backup and flood my pines. Now they have started cutting the pines. Every year we have break the dam and they always build back. I don't like these critters much.

can be seen from space

This isn't so amazing anymore. Everything can be seen from space now, including the beavers.
