"Unless there is real evidence, then this is another he said/she said situation."

Arrest is effected when reasonable suspicion is met. In most jurisdictions, that means something more than just a statement of a complaining witness. I suspect that the complaining witness bears some physical evidence of assault, and/or Taylor perhaps said something incriminating if/when speaking to police.

She was underage (15) from what I read. Also, may have been beaten. Not good at all...

He has kinfolks in Rockland.

I bought a 1987 Grand Wagoneer Woody from his brother or cousin brand new and met him at the dealership in Nyack then.

I’m big....he was really big.

15? WTF? I have no patience or sympathy for pedophiles - in my book, a 50-year old man forcing himself on a 15-year old is a "jackpot" offense.

“Arrest is effected when reasonable suspicion is met”.

No, reasonable suspiciaon only allows a cop to speak with you. It must rise to the higher standard of “probable cause” for you to be arrested.

The additional evidence was probably him speaking to the police and admitting to a consensual encounter. Her age was the issue in that charge, even if consensual on her part.

But the fact remains,,, women these days sure seem to have the interesting habit of visiting the hotel rooms of famous athletes, whom they do not know personally. You really don’t see these guys going out to the street and dragging these woman into their rooms by force.

Yes, for most other crimes, that is true. But, I was speaking about cases of domestic assault/rape. In these cases (and in most states that I'm familiar), "reasonable suspicion" is all that is required, by statute.

In most states, if police can identify the aggressor, and have a reasonable suspicion that a crime has occurred, then they're empowered, by statute, to effect arrest.

Just watched a show the other night on A&E about him and the former Miss USA. It was about drug addiction. After watching the show, knowing what I know about it, I can tell you both are still on drugs.

Now I read this. I am not saying he is guilty, but I would not be surprised if this happened. Moreover, it will confirm what I thought.

and the former Miss USA"

Was that the beauty queen that Trump "saved" by sending her to rehab? I'm sorry to hear she's back on the drugs. Too bad.

If Lawrence Taylor ends up getting convicted or copping a plea in a violent crime like this, then as far as I'm concerned it will officially mark the final step in the formal demise of what was once a very proud and classy NFL franchise.

1. Sale of 50% of the team (the half originally owned by John Mara since it was passed down from the team's founder in 1930) to Robert Tisch (Loews Corporation owner and former U.S. Postmaster General) in 1991.

2. Death of Wellington Mara in 2005, with his 50% ownership passing to his son John.

3. Death of Bob Tisch shortly thereafter, with his 50% ownership passing to his son, entertainment industry executive Steve Tisch.

4. Items #1 and #2 marked the official passing of the torch from the old "football" ownership to the new "business" ownership, and it hasn't been pretty.

5. Announcement in 2005 of a new stadium in the New Jersey Meadowlands, to be shared with the New York Jets and completed in time for the 2010 season.

6. Complete disaster in the sale of season tickets and seat licenses to fans in 2008-09. The Giants were once famed for their season ticket waiting list, and for years people would put their names on this list in the hopes that their children would be able to buy season tickets 25 years later. The economic collapse of 2008-09 didn't help matters, and many seats remain unsold as former "life-long fans" have abandoned the team in droves due to the outrageous $5,000 to $20,000 cost of seat licenses for "regular seats," and the team's inability to meet the demand for the cheapest seats among fans who had attended games at Giants Stadium, Yankee Stadium and the Yale Bowl over the course of the last five decades.

If the guy who had long been the defining player in the history of the franchise and the greatest NFL player of all time meets a terrible fate in the criminal justice system, then this would surely mark the end of the New York Football Giants as I knew them.

Yes. She said she is off, but you can look at her tell she is not. It’s obvious. Plus what she says. I have seen it so many times before. I used to be fooled by it, but not anymore.

Not really sure why you have a problem with owners passing on ownership of a property to their sons.

Yes, that should have been mentioned in the headline and the excerpt.
