Metal Ping List -
A great vocalist has fallen.
Thank you for sharing.
Rest in Peace Ronnie James Dio. You will be missed. I grew up listening to you with Dio and Sabbath. It is a sad day for Heavy Metal.
My, we are all incredibly priviledged that you decided to sign up today just to ask that question.
I just cranked “Rainbow in the Dark” as a tribute.
RIP Ronnie.
His musical themes were actually Christian Conservative best I could tell. Weird, huh? TTYL ....
Sorry for your loss folks. Although I didn’t listen to him, I recognize these artist as some of the last of the greatest.
Music is in a sorry state these days.
There's a metal ping list? Go ahead and add me please.
You’ve been added!
I saw him in 2003, on the Give Me Ed... 'Till I'm Dead tour.
Well, a lot of the headbangers tend to lean a bit to the right politically. Appealing generally to the white male working class, heavy metal and hard rock has never been music for liberals. That's why it has often been dismissed by critics out of contempt towards the fans.
Liberalism and metal just don’t go together.
Please add me to the Metal ping list as well...
Blackmore's Rainbow Rising is still one of my favortite albums of all time. Sad he left us.
This is an amazing album also. The riff in Sixteenth Century Greensleeves is just awesome.
You got it!
my comment from another thread:
Many years ago I was getting out of my car to check into my hotel in Daytona Beach, FL. It was raining and very dark. I am confined to a wheelchair and was struggling to hurry with my luggage from my car when this very creepy guy runs up to me, scaring me to death, and grabbed my luggage and said, Ill follow you. I checked in, with the creepy guy in tow, and went to my room. He brought in my luggage and told me if I needed anything to call him in his room. He gave me the details, and invited me for a drink in the bar. Reluctantly I said OK figuring I owed the guy a drink. When we entered the bar, EVERYONE looked...It was then I found out he was Ronnie James Deo. He gave me back stage ticket to his show and provided me a ride with him in his limo....I have never met a nicer person in my entire life. RIP, my friend...
What a great story! Thanks for sharing.
From Pat Travers Facebook page:
Sad news. My long time friend Ronnie Dio has left this realm. I 1st met RJD in London at the Speakeasy about ‘76. He was just one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. Very classy guy. Condolences to Wendy and family and to the millions of Ronnie’s friends and fans. He truly was “A Rainbow In The Dark”. With solemnity, PT
