Kenneth Starr, a New York financial investment advisor to Hollywood stars such as Uma Thurman and Martin Scorsese, was arrested on charges of running a $30 million ponzi scheme.

State and federal prosecutors announced on Thursday that Kenneth Starr, financial advisor to many Hollywood stars, has been arrested for allegedly running a $30 million ponzi scheme, according to the NBC News. The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is also expected to announce civil charges against Starr.

Details of the charges were not immediately released but are expected to be announced at a press conference at 1 p.m. by Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney in Manhattan, and Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Junior, reports the Wall Street Journal.

The last President of the New York City Council, Andy Stein, was also arrested for allegedly lying to law enforcement who were investigating the accusations. It is unclear how the proper authorities discovered this alleged fraud.

DNA Info reports that one of Starr’s clients includes celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz who has been facing serious money troubles.

Editor's note: This Kenneth Starr has no relation to the Ken Starr who investigated President Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky affair.

It wasn’t meant to be funny - it’s a news item.

Pravda media is playing their games. This man has been called Ken Starr and Kenneth Starr in the articles.

Seems like they can’t get enough of that name.

Reminds me when there was a Jim Bakker in the Reagan administration and the press was reporting heavily on Jim Baker’s corruption.

Robert Tilton was likewise a corrupt televangelist but he never made headline like Jim Baker.

Wasn’t Scorsese involved with Madoff, also?

As a kid, people always asked me if I was related to Bart or Ringo.

After the 90’s, they asked me about Ken.

"Kenneth Starr, a New York financial investment advisor to Hollywood stars such as Uma Thurman and Martin Scorsese, was arrested on charges of running a $30 million ponzi scheme."

" "Talented and brilliant" Hollywood liberals getting ripped off by con men. What's that German word again for that guilty sort feeling of satisfaction?

Thanks - I did a search for “Starr” but didn’t see anything. Should have looked up “ponzi” instead. My bad.

I can assure you that this Ken Starr is a full blown liberal. He’s also a lawyer. And a pig who left his first wife for his secretary. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

I know, but I think it’s funny, and I’m kind of sorry.

Whoops! Thanks hennie pennie. I’ve had this open for the better part of an hour, and finally got to the wrong tab first. :’(
