The new album from North Carolina country singer Rockie Lynne, Songs for Soldiers, is, if anything, a patriotic album chock full of songs praising the military, the sacrifices they make and their love of America.

Lynne, who served in the U.S. Army and said “the military turned out to be the most shaping experience of my life, on so many levels. I learned perseverance, self-discipline and respect for self and others.”

Knowing that about Lynne, when you listen to the 11 tracks on Songs for Soldiers, released this week, his delivery on each songs sounds that much more authentic.

“Proud To Be a Soldier,” is an upbeat bit of pop-country with enough rock instrumentation to give it a punch that has Lynne singing about the pride that goes with being a member of the military.

And then there’s that pride in one’s country which is evident on “Ain’t America Beautiful,” a song that is really heartfelt.

Sings Lynne: “Give us your tired, your poor, your yearning to be free for evermore / Ain’t America beautiful.”
