If your sick of Los Angeles don't buy Laker gear and drive their ratings into the toilet. Many NBA franchises support illegal immigration. How many more times are we going to see the Celtics and Lakers in the finals anyway. This is about the 10th time in 60 years I think.
Go Raiders!!!
This makes me wish I watched the NBA in the past just so I can boycott them now.
I live on the border of L.A. in Glendale. This works for me.
Join me in switching it off.
Didn’t LA put on some anti-Arizona bill shirts at one point to make a statement? Screw em...
Did you see the Arizona-style anti-illegal bill that the Massachusetts Senate passed last week?
So it’s Los Celticos now. Los Angeles vs Los Celticos.
Conservatives should cancel cable and sat TV. 5 TV networks control 95% of all channel and they all support Obama. Fox News is at least 10% owned by the Saudis.
NFL, NBA, MBL and NCAA love Obama. I cancelled Tv a year ago and will never go back. TV is the road to serfdom and we are way down the road already.
Asked about the law, Jackson told reporters: "Am I crazy, or am I the only one that heard [the Arizona Legislature] say, 'We just took the United States immigration law and adopted it to our state?'" Arizona lawmakers simply "gave it some teeth to be able to enforce it."
Jackson took a lot of heat for saying that, but he stuck by it.
This is a literally ignorant post.
Frantzie, you’re a better person than me, but I cannot simply withdraw completely from the world. I believe we must be aware of what is going on, and it’s hard to do that without access.
GO LAKERS!!!
I trust the original poster of this drivel now feels like an idiot........because he/she sure looks like one.
Easy one for me. I never watch Basketball.
Lame.............
That was the Phoenix (Los) Suns.......
The Lakers refused to participate in making any political statement.
LOL!!!
I will not be watching.
Okay, then I appreciate you correcting me. Thank you.
I guess I’m still in favor of turning the set off, since I’m so angry at the LA City Council and the county entity that did basically the same thing.
The police chief shot his yap off too, making some nominal statement to ease illegal immigrant fears, to hell with citizens rational objections.
I don’t watch the NBA anyway, but this thread sucks pretty bad.
Didn’t Phil Jackson say something that sounded very libertarian or conservative? I could care less abbout B bal or most sports but he sounds like a good guy who is also pretty smart.
No thanks.
Bring back the Rens.
No problem, I have not watched thugball for more than a decade
i like the idea, but i can’t see it being a go... not even with FReepers...
Coach Phil Jackson basically said that the bill mirrors federal law. Sounds to me like he read it. He’s a very intelligent coach and all around intelligent individual. Hell, he should run for office.
Yup. Thanks I had forgotten. I am not an NBA fan but I admire this guy for his comments. I am aware of his record as a coach as well.
Glad to hear Phil Jackson isn’t playing along, but LA, LA County and their schools are all in on it. Phil also coached in Chicago, another city to be despised and boycotted.
Boston is no better. It is a sanctuary city and launch point for 911 terrorists.
Boston Councilors Take Aim At Arizona Immigration Law BOSTON
Boston City Council is stepping into the fray over the controversial new law in Arizona that requires police to question people if they have suspicions about their immigration status.
Councilors Michael Ross and Felix Arroyo plan to present a resolution Tuesday that would seek to identify and possibly sever any investments the city has with Arizona and Arizona-based companies.
Arroyo said its important to take a stand against the law, even if no financial ties are found.
As a Latino myself, if I were in Arizona, based on the law they just passed, I could be stopped and asked to prove my citizenship, he said. I was born in the city of Boston. Does that mean I have to walk around with my birth certificate in my back pocket?
The resolution would also ask city employees not to travel to Arizona for conferences or other city business.
The move follows similar measures against Arizona taken by city officials in Washington, D.C., New York and Los Angeles.
You may end up having to boycott more than you had ever planned on.
Please explain why it is then that you have the Chicago Bulls listed as one of your "favorite" sports teams on your FR homepage.
So the Lakers are responsible for what the city of LA does? How exactly does that work? This is completely illogical. Tell me about “the Rooney Rule” or some of the other idiotic things the Steelers have been behind, and THEN talk to me about a Laker-Celtic boycott.
NBA? Who watches the NBA?
¡Los Lakers ganaron!
No problem, I’m watching the Stanley Cup finals.
No worries - LOS(S) SUNS aren’t in the Finals, so I’m watching he Lakers taken it to the Celtics.
Let Major League SPorts like NFL and NBA be a lesson in the failures of socialism.
1) A Salary Cap. Each team can pay their roster a total amount and not go over.
2) The Draft. The worst team gets to pick the best players, yet somehow with every team having to work with the same payroll and the way the Draft is set up, some teams manage to win more often than others.
Just why is that?
Because socialism, which the NFL is a microcosm of, fails at socialism.
Phil Jackson maybe a New Age Hippie, but he’s not stupid and I doubt he’s a liberal.
Likely an “Indy”
Might see him at a Tea Party someday.
