USA V England - World Cup Thread
Go USA, Tame the Three Lions!!!!!
Time for another round of Euro-peon Fantasy Football!
What time ?????
Well if England needed a reason to kick our butts to begin with, then Obama’s given it to them.
GO USA ALL THE WAY!!
USA in 4-4-2.
Not wise, imho. But hoping for the best.
Both teams have issues in the back so it could be a relatively high scoring game.
My Prediction: England 3 USA 2.
I’d be thrilled if we scored two today. I do think we should start with five across. I see Donovan and Dempsey spending more time dealing with Cole and Johnson than in attack and that isn’t good.
On ABC. They are doing the preliminary now.
Not sure of the exact start time, but it should be momentarily, probably about 2:00 ET/1:00 CT.

England just took the field to warm up. It’s on ABC.
Yep even if we lose, scoring goals helps us in potential tie-breakers with Algeria and Slovenia.
I’m going to have to go with England 3-1. Wayne Rooney is bound to score 1 or 2, the guy is just unstoppable and the US backline is suspect this year.
The question is, how fit is Rooney?
Funny commerial on how to distract the opponent.
Capello risked him on that godawful pitch at Wembley in tuneup matches, so my guess he’s good to go.
All I know is, Tim Howard is going to have to have the game of his life today. He’s capable, but he’s going to be very busy.
Better hope he’s exhausted from scoring so many goals in the EPL this year.
Hoping the Brits have a tough time with Finley early!
I wonder if the US is going to try to tweak Rooney, like Portugal did back in 2006.
We’re really going to miss Charlie Davies.
Onyewu hasn’t played 90 minutes since his injury. Howard better be an acrobat — and he is certainly capable of it.
If USA win 2-1 I will be semi-rich. LoL!
It Can Be Done!
Hero’s are made stepping up in moments like this, but Davies would be real nice...
Hopefully he’s in a groove...he didn’t look too into warming up!
He’d better be. I’m underwhelmed by our choices on the back line.
Ribs been marinaded since yesterrday morning, beer is cold and the wide screen is on the terrace. Life is good.
My Prediction: England 3 USA 2.Oh well, you never know…
The English team is not that great, and I hear the US team keeps improving. Rooney will score at least once. So I hope the US will win 2-1 :-)
Even a tie here would be a win. I think tying England at least makes it much easier to come out of the group.
I’m with you, 2-1 USA. Finally have a team with some fireworks up front and a bit of depth.
It’s all about stopping Rooney.
John Harkes just said Onyewu is the man to try. He’s on Rooney.
I think the US can have some success in the counter-attack against England. Let Donovan do his magic. Look at the final last year against Brazil for the blueprint, although Brazil did come back, but England isn’t Brazil.
Hope you’re right. They’ve got 4 or 5 that regularly score; gerrard, lampard, cole, johnson. We are up against it, no doubt. Should make for a great game.
I just can't see Onyewu keeping up with Rooney...he is lightning fast and has incredible ball skills.
Awesome! This is what the World Cup is all about. Even if you aren’t a soccer fan, how can you not be all jacked up for this?
Counter is the only way to attack England with this team. When Bradley’s teams play more skilled opposition they tend to pack the middle of the park and counter.
That’s why I wish we were 4-5-1 for this match, actually.
And I am unfortunately still waiting for Donovan’s magic in a match that matters. Perhaps today will be the day.
FREE shots of tequila each time the USA scores at Frontera Bar and Grill in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - American owned and operated.
A huge gamble, but given Bradley's options, Gooch is our best chance.
From the FIFA website historically England leads the USA 7-2 in games with no ties. In total goals scored during these games England leads 35-8.
He has a problem with his bad temper - irritate him and get him red carded
USA can’t stop Rooney, but they may be able to tame him. I’m going with 2-1 USA as they catch a flat footed England side for two early goals and then hold on.
The US quite possibly has the better midfield with all of the injuries...damn is this gonna be fun!
just got home from playin 18...5:40 am tee off
gonna try to enjoy the game and the Truck racin
