Please Admins and IT Folks fix this site. The way it is operating now is tantamount to a DOS Attack.
It was running slow for me yesterday but seems just fine today...
I am sure they are doing everything they can to get things right.... I’m super serise about that.
Wow! You really get results. Since you posted this FR has been responding faster than it has for days.
i think it’s a dns issue, not a ddos one. should resolve itself soon.
He’s probably not logged-in.
Some fresh paint and Febreeze wouldn’t hurt, either.
Have you plugged the hole yet, Daddy?
WHAT IS HE CALLING FROM, THEN?!??
Try rebooting. I find that helps in many cases.
Do a DNS flush on your conputer and see if that helps...
They have advised against using a different IP address.
Getting the same error message, cannot locate page! I stay logged in from 6 am to 10 pm. this is the best place to get the honest news.
Add the new IP to your hosts file.
I am so slow-witted that FR runs too fast for me.
JimRob should be RICH because of the success on this site- instead they go begging every quarter.
I am all for maintaining your integrity and not selling out, but it is NOT automatic that you HAVE TO sell out if you go commercial
That’s CAPITALISM at its finest (and we like that kind of thing here, dont we?)
This site is too important to be so poorly protected from downtime.
Good Night. I expect more respect tomorrow. -Danny H-
It’s so frustrating, I’m about to give up on it.

Sending them money will do more to fix it than complaining or begging.
That happened to me recently. I locked my purse with my cellphone and my keys in my car. I called from a phone in a nearby building.
The OnStar.
But you can hear the doors being remotely unlocked.
It wasn’t Onstar. It was the campus police where I work that came to my assistance.
Okay, here’s the deal, if ya’ll promise to vote for Sarah in 2012 I will cease my “broadcast storm” against the FreeRepublic. If you fail to make the promise, I will post “I’d hit it” on every thread, even if it doesn’t make sense within the context. /sarc
This morning I did notice it running very slow, felt like a DDOS attack to me, probably the new web neutrality being test out /not sarc
Considering that it is a DONATION SUPPORTED WEBSITE, it has been down a very small percentage since it's inception. There are now TWO different ALTERNATE WEBSITES for FR, just in case it is down. Jim Rob and staff should be commended for the uptime percentage they have achieved, and the speed with which they address problems. Name another website (donation supported) that has done as well.
Just because we are all like junkies without a fix is not to be laid at the feet of the WEBSITES STAFF.
Patience is a virtue.
Too bad I don't have much either.

It may be on your end. Mine is working great.
Try a reboot.
That would mean logging off.
You might as well ask Freepers to quit breathing.
: )
Haha!
How do you do this on a Windows 7 Machine?
I haven’t had much trouble today, but over past few days it was down a lot. Very annoying.
And won’t the Left be glad if you and others do give up on it. After all, they have tried so hard to get rid of FR for so long.
FreeRepublic is having problem with one of their servers. They reside at IP addresses:
209.157.64.201 (Having Problems)
209.157.64.200
If your DNS decodes to the .201, it will probably be problematic. You can enter the hardcoded IP address as a temporary fix. This is not advised since they could change their hardware IP addresses and it also eliminates cross hunting.
As stated earlier (but not explained) you should try flushing your DNS cache as shown below:
Enter the Command Prompt: (Start/Program/Accessories/Command Prompt).
Enter: ipconfig /flushdns (Enter)
Close window and enter “www.freerepublic.com” and it should resolve. If that does not work, you can temporarily use the hard coded IP address (.200) until the problems are resolved.
Another phone?
Incredible as it may seem, his girlfriend might just have had a cell phone he could use to call OnStar.
That’s my point: the OnStar dispatcher asks him for a number where he can be reached, and he says that his cell phone is locked in his truck. While speaking on a telephone.
It’s almost useless for me today....gotta double click (or more) each function, just to get into a thread.......and the few replies I’ve posted have been double and triple posts.

Maybe I'm confused...I thought part of the point of the OnStar service was that you can speak to someone by pushing the OnStar button in your car. They can remotely unlock the car. How do you know he was calling from a telephone?
I was having the same problem 3 weeks ago. I could not get on Free Republic or Breitbart but everything else was okay. Slow but okay.
I had to reset my wireless router. Something had burped and the router was blocking those sites.
I have since replaced that router with a new 802.11N router.
It does sound like it is on your end as I am having no problems.
"Hey, my phone is locked in the truck. Why don't I give you my date's number, who's phone I'm calling from...".
Okay, I've watched both the new Star Trek and Batman, the Beginning, and it is still slow.
