Make mine the Glock 19.

My first was a Glock 22 (which I later converted to 9mm with a Lone Wolf barrel), but the 19 is the more practical “every day” package.

I have both the 26 and the 17 as well as 15 other various handguns.

Both glocks are great guns and I have tens of thousands of jamm free rounds through them.

IMHO, the G26 is the best of all. I’m not kidding, the G26 is my carry, range, SHTF, etc gun.

I shoot better with the G26 than the 17.

I've got the glock 30 as most of my hand gun shooting is .45 or .45 colt. That way I can cut down on bullet molds, dies and I just really like that caliber!

I only have 7 hand guns so I may add a Ruger Red Hawk .45 colt in stainless.

:)

Or if your budget is tight, check out Hi-Point Firearms. Made in the USA, usually under $200 new and come with a lifetime, transferable warranty.

I was primarily a SIG fan (and still am), but I sold one of my SIGs (P229) to buy my Glock 19. Side by side, I couldn’t justify much about the SIG over the Glock. Lighter, smaller, etc.

I still keep a few SIG pistols, including my very first pistol - a SIG P226 I bought in WEST Germany in 1990.

I’m glad he likes the G27, that’s my next investment. Tried it out at the range last month don’t think it kicks badly at all. I went with the G30 first, wish I started here.

Whatever you do, don’t buy one in 9 and another in .40.

Wrong ammo in gun, bad news in the middle of a dark street pissing contest.

Love my .40s. 27 and 23.

Wow, great prices. I recently shot the mech tech CCU on a glock 19. What a sweet shooting and amazingly accurate setup for a carbine. I have my dad's .30M1 but I'm thinking of getting a glock 21 and the CCU for it.

Friend who’s an armed security guard carries a Glock .40. I’ve shot it at the range; damned nice gun. No wonder it’s used by so many PD’s and security officers.

I'm also and H&K fan. I have a USP in 45. If the Navy Seals like em, they gotta be good...

After hundreds and hundreds of rounds, I've never had a miss fire or hang and much of it hand loaded ammo with various charges and bullet weights.

My fav and most accurate round is 185 grain nosler hollow point loaded a little hot with unique powder and winchester primers.

The weight. I knew I wanted a sub compact and thought they were mostly the same but they are not. Loaded the G30 weighs 34oz and the G27 is 26.8oz., big difference if you’re going to carry it all day IMHO. I do recommend the sandpaper decal grips, they really help. Especially if it’s humid.

Glock 27 subcompact .40
Glock 22 full size .40

Get 9mm conversion barrel for each and you have the best of both worlds. 9mm for cheaper shooting and .40 for more stopping power self defense.

I can see where it could get heavy it you carried daily or needed “real” concealment. I sometimes grab the 30 and just drop it in my jeans pocket (I don’t chamber a round) when I go to the farm or ride my motorcycle. It has come in handy a time or two.

The SEALs “use” the HK Mk23, which was nominally an “offensive handgun”. After all the bidding and selection was done (HK vs Colt), the resulting handgun was so huge that they didn’t really want it as a standard sidearm.

The primary sidearm was, and continues to be, the SIG P226 in 9mm.

Nosler Sporting Handgun Bullets 45 Caliber (451 Diameter) 185 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point.

The most accurate & economical .45 bullet that I've found.

The ammo caught my eye too. Shot a few into a pig carcass on a friend’s farm. (Penetration testing can be fun) Went right out and bought a couple of boxes. I love the old Colt Commander (alloy frame). I sent a letter to Colt w/serial number, they said mine was built in 1953. Saw it in a shop back in 1972, had to have it.

Haven’t seen an old model in quite a while. The new ones are kinda pricey. Maybe $900 retail, from what I’ve seen at the gun shows.

Of course, along with the conversion barrel you will need to get 9mm mags also.

It gets better - buy a .357 SIG barrel (.357 SIG = .38 bullet in a necked-down .40 case) and get a third gun, flatter shooting with higher muzzle velocity (but less down-range energy). With the .357 SIG, you can use any of your glock .40 magazines. If you get the 9mm barrel, you will need to use 9mm magazines. Still, pretty cheap way to get three guns in one!

During the great ammo shortage last year I couldnt find much of any handgun ammo other than some 38 special and 9mm, so I decided to stay with the nine.

Load the Glock 19 or 26 with Golden Saber or Corbon Powr Ball ammo and you have guns that are just as peppy as a 357 magnum with ammo a lot easier to find.
