Here is video of John Stossel on Fox and Friends where he said the truth is that the more available guns are, “crime tends to go down because the bad guys start to get worried about who has a gun.”
Stossel pointed out that when Great Britain banned guns, “crime went up.” He also said it is true that virtually everyone in the “mainstream media” is anti-gun. He said he knows because he used to be a part of them.
Despite all the emphasis in the media that increased gun regulation reduces crime, Stossel said the facts just don’t support it as true.

This is not true, necessarily. A more accurate phrasing might be “An increase in gun ownership by law abiding citizens tends to drive crime down.”
“Tends” is superfluous.

So true, but I heard a lib weeny talking head on tv say once that “even when the crime goes down, they still want to have guns!” Just incredible stupidity, but then he was on tv and I wasn’t.
Yes... look how crime has dropped in DC, Chicago, Camden, Newark and other cities with stiff gun restrictions!! (Sarc)
BTW, maybe we should phrase as “where there are entitlement programs in densely populated areas, there is MUCH higher crime...”
Did he mention crime-ridden Switzerland (sarc) where every citizen is required by law to own a gun?
The same people are horrified that while crime is going down more people are being put into prison. With crime going down we should not have to put people in prison any more! Cause And Effect is not well understood by these people.
Nearly all gun control laws are directed at law abiding citizens. The left worries about Tea Partiers openly carrying guns at political events, all of whom are law abiding citizens and none of whom has shot anybody. They should be worried about the criminals who carry concealed.
Gun Control is like trying to solve drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.
I like John, a smart guy. How we lived so long at ABC I don’t know. Thank goodness he got out of that hell hole and has gone to Fox where he is more appreciated.
Folks, you have to understand, like John Edwards did, that we have two Americas. The dem America is totally bereft of adults. This is why libs see the need to remove guns from their constituents, they understand anyone voting for them is a functional moron. The other America is largely populated with adults (Republicans, independents and libertarians) who accept the responsibilities of adulthood and do all they can do to protect and enrich their families. Given that dems feed off of disfunctional child like voters its no surprise that they would wish to remove lethal things from children. The expression “its for the children” pretty well describes their entire world view. It just happens that they view all people as children (except themselves).
Whats wrong with you people. Don’t you know that clinging to your guns and religion is UN-American.

Apparently a graduate of the Clinton school of parsing. Stossel MIGHT have been trying to suggest that more CRIMINALS with guns would reduce crime, but it’s probably JUUUST a little doubtful. And there’s no “tends” about it. More guns in the hands of actual Americans = less crime. Period.
Liberals like to seize on statments and say “Look at XXX with all its illegal guns. Look at Columbine/VA Tech/etc...” It’s an important distinction to note: not just guns, but law-abiding citizens with guns. More guns in the hands of the Latin Kings, the Crips, or the Bloods (all “American Citizens” for the most part), do not lower crime. If you think that’s a distinction that doesn’t need to be made, well, that’s why you work the lube rack and I’m a professional engineer.
As a former anti gun liberal I have to say YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, this is sooooooo how liberals think. I bought my first gun several months ago and I have been reading up on gun ownership and talked to people who have guns.
It’s so common sense that I am angry at myself for not being open enough to see it all these years.I want law abiding, decent citicens to have a concealed weapon BECAUSE then the criminals will become very paranoid about being killed themselves. I want to have law abiding, gun carrying citizens around me in public for the times when some criminal or nut pulls out a firearm & starts indisciminately shooting. I WANT THAT & I am sad that it took so long for that simple, common sense idea to take hold in my brain.
I want to know that when I am bying a soft pretzel on the street while I’m in NY & some thug pulls out a gun; a hero also sees & pulls out their gun. COMMON SENSE........
The thugs will ALWAYS have guns; of that we can be sure. If I was a thug & I knew that more & more law abiding citizens were carrying firearms; I would think twice before getting my gun out.
