Looks okay to me.

For the past few days I’ve had what I thought is a cold, but maybe I can blame it on the BP oil spill.

Where’s my check?

Where’s my check?

Signed by a "Michael E. Mouse", and deposited in a Petrobas account owned by a "Mr. G. Soros" in a Kenyan bank.

Hell, I'm in south-east Louisiana and my house smells like Marlboro.
Guess the smell must thicken up as it heads west ;^)

I love those things.

Step-brother turned me onto them a couple of years ago.

A fine guilty pleasure.

Can you elaborate? There is so much tinfoil crap going around I don’t know what to believe. But, I am very concerned since I am next to Marco Island. Thoughts?

One...two...three...four

Just count how long before you are told about how wrong you are and how you are a ‘scaremonger’ and how when we were you we use to drink shots of Jack and benzene and naphtha in our cigarette lighters and they passed gas much worse than any methane from any old oil well.

I don't know. I can't tell anything from that video other than there's oil on those beaches. I'm going to bed...I'll worry again tomorrow, lol.

Without going into unnecessary details, let me just tell you that the number of possible catastrophic outcomes outnumbers the satisfactory outcome count. As a risk manager, I always error on the side of fear and safety while at the same time avoiding panic and paranoia.

I recommend you leave. If the situation improves, return, and you've lost nothing. If the situation deteriorates and you stay, the window for safe evacuation may close.

I look at the relatively brief period of recorded human history, and count the number of stable societies and their respective lifespans, and I look at the geological record and see extinctions and catastrophic earth changes, and I conclude one thing:

We're overdue for a >50% planetary population reduction via at least a dozen possible causes. And this abiotic oil release wasn't even on my list.

I'm a catastrophist and I can't disagree with you. I wonder what the reaction would be if something like this were to happen tomorrow?
