Two months after the Department of Labor launched a special program to assist and protect illegal immigrants in the U.S. the Obama cabinet official who heads the agency is personally encouraging undocumented workers to report employers that don’t pay them fairly.
In a Spanish-language public service announcement, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis assures that “every worker in America has a right to be paid fairly, whether documented or not.” Illegal aliens who are not getting fair wages are encouraged to call a new hotline set up by the agency on a new “Podemos Ayudar” (We Can Help) web page designed to administer worker protection laws and ensure that employees are properly paid “regardless of immigration status.”
In the short video, also posted in English, Solis tells illegal immigrants that it’s a “serious problem” when workers in this country are not paid fairly and that all workers have the right to receive their salary regardless of immigration status. She encourages those who are not to call the new hotline and assures it’s free and confidential. “Podemos ayudar,” (we can help), Solis guarantees at the end of the brief segment.
The Labor Secretary’s new message is part of a campaign launched a few months ago to help illegal immigrant workers in the U.S., who she refers to as “vulnerable” and “underpaid.” At least 1,000 new field investigators have been deployed to reach out to Latino laborers in areas with large numbers of illegal alien employees and the agency will focus on enforcing labor and wage laws in industries that typically hire lots of illegal aliens without reporting anyone to federal immigration

Sound sgood to me. These employers are knowingly hiring illegals. They should be shut down.
They can’t kill off American jobs fast enough. Yet the #1 priority of the Labor Secretary is fighting for illegals that feel they aren’t paid enough.
Watch out what you wish for. This administration, and our court system, are perfectly capable of taking businesses away from their owners and giving them to the illegals. Don’t believe me? It happened to a ranching family in Arizona.

You’re falling for the divide and conquer strategy. We don’t need the government to deal with them. Let the free market deal with them. If people are pissed off they’re using illegals, boycott them. When their business starts to suffer, and they know why, they will either fold or change. Or hell, let OTHER americans report them, they will soon find one way or the other it’s not cost effective to hire illegals.
Have a bunch of people begin and mebarrassment campaign to humiliate the business. People have done this on their own forever. Hell, Obama’s not going to deport the illegals, he wants them to be paid more.

I understand your concern but if someone is intentionally hiring illegals he should be out of business. I’d even support deportation of the employer since they obviously care little for US citizenship.
This might actually work out well. Employers who have been hiring illegals will start getting harassed by the illegals to pay them the same as documented workers. Why hire an illegal at the same cost as a citizen? Again, I said might work out well.
yeah well, i know alot of american men right now who have professions that they have worked decades at and aren’t finding jobs or are getting paid crap now to do what they were paid very well for a few years ago. I find that unfair! but i’m sure no one cares about that.
