Will Technology Bring Down Obama? (Vanity)
30 June 2010 | mind freed

I'm part of a younger generation that does not remember too well what life was like without cell phones, the internet, and on demand television. I was born during Ronald Reagans first year in office - who I really wish I had a chance to see give a speech and have been old enough to understand it. My main question as per the title of this thread is how much effect do you think technology will have on Obama's run for a second term (should he make it that far - GOD I HOPE NOT!). With all the emails sent to people who don't know what's going on, and all the research you can do on the internet. Will technology be his downfall or will his shear hatred for America and OUR constitution be enough to wake people up?

Technology can just as easily be used to spread lies as it can be used to spread truth. Technology is a tool (then again, so is Obama ... haha).

Technology will not be Obama’s downfall ... incompetence will be.

Your is a great question. All tech or knowlege is a double-edged sword; some are provoked to ask questions that bolster freedom, while for many these things merely provide new avenues for indoctrination.

Mao Tse-Tung educated the peasantry simply so that he could propagandize them.

Ummm....I have to believe the tech is mostly his enemy, however.

I am a little older than you, and I do clearly remember the time when if you were conservative in my state, you felt just as if you were in a small rowboat in the middle of the ocean —profoundly lonely.

EVERY channel on the TV featured liberal journalists.

Things have changed very much —Rush came, and now we have MANY people who imitate him, and others who also have real conservative messages.

Things have really improved.

Actually, I think this technology that you’re describing has lead to the fracturing and segmentation of society, into smaller and smaller groups ... as each group is able to find others similar to themselves, whereas they had to coalesce around larger groups in the past, and put aside many of the small differences.

Now, it’s the “small differences” that are the “badges” that are worn by people ... at the expense of the overall power of larger groups ...

It makes for a society which is constantly at war with itself, on all fronts, with all issues at all times ... :-)

How will it feel when you can no longer afford to buy airtime for your cell phone because you don't have a job or your parents can't pay for you?

When Obama shuts down the internet? I think if that ever happened all of his young supporters would drop him like a rock.

Much of the technology is designed to create and to isolate and introvert those that use it, which is nearly all of our young people. Plus added to all the focus on games, downloads of movies, music, etc., TV and movies teach complete lack of morals, and such non involved activities and relationships, IE as “hooking up regularly with complete strangers and making it normal behavior. WHICH is a complete distortion of healthy life. Relationship wise many are completely inept as to how to relate in a real way. Addicted be self centered egotism.

Fear ... the day

There are coming generations, that will kill others, parents, neighbors and all those that their leaders says need to be destroyed. Much the same as the Hitler Youth Brigade did without suffering any conscience remorse or sorrow. The reasons will be ... for the good of the earth, population control, eliminating those that hate, those that refuse to accept the uniting of one world control, International government, no private property, probably no money, and Valium added to the water supply.

Does anyone doubt this is exacting the direction we are headed? It takes years to change thought. We are well on the way to this end goal. I know, it sounds too extreme, yet look at what has happened since the Internet exploded into being, etc. Or since TV came to every house.

Look at morals, honesty, government, abortions, marriage, homosexuality, the down grading of the Christians, the Churches persecuted, education, not flying Americas flag in schools now, etc., etc., , good no longer a concept, and evil has prospered.

Thought control is the aim. We are far down this road.

We must stop this run away train, we are on the road to ruin.

God help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.

I guess I should have asked will technology bring down the world. Your response is very scary and unfortunately, not as absurd as some may take it. As I stated, I was born in 1980 so I never really think about what it use to be like when families ate at the table, marriages lasted, kids had chores to do, sex wasn’t expected on the first date, flying our flag was the norm, showing cleavage on TV was pushing the line, and men acted like men. I would much rather trade in the internet and cell phones, for good ole fashioned Family and Moral values.

You were saying ...

Well, I don't think you're going to stop it, especially when God says that evil has to come to its fullness, in the time He has allocated for it to happen -- in order that He may judge the whole world, and dispense His wrath that He have been saving up for this particular time. He will dispense all His wrath that has been saved up from the beginning.

So, while you and me and others are not going to promote the evil that is rampantly taking over the world, and while we may speak out against it -- I wouldn't try to fool anyone into believing that they are going to stop it ...

At the bottom line, it's not a trade-off between the Internet/cell phones -- and -- old fashinoed family and moral values. That's a false dichotomy. And it misses the true problem that the Bible says is at the bottom of it all.

The true problem is in the sinfulness of mankind, and God has already told us about this day that is coming (which is not related to cell phones and the Internet), but is related to the sin condition that all are born into, and have, at the moment they come into this world.

AND... God has the answer to that, which is the salvation that He offers through His Son, Jesus, the Messiah of Israel, the Gospel message, per the Scriptures.

We have known for a very long time (per the Scriptures) that God is allowing this condition of sin in mankind to grow to its fullness (which it is and has been from the time of the Garden of Eden) -- so He can judge the entire world, with the wrath He has saved up from the beginning. He will dispense it all -- when this condition (that you are observing and comment on) -- comes to its fullness, and He releases all that wrath He has held back, for many thousands of years, thus far. It will all be dispensed upon the whole world, in a matter of just a very few years (7 years ... max ...).

And after He has fully dispensed His wrath that He has saved up from mankinds sinfulness, over thousands of years -- He will bring into place, His own "one-world government" over all the nations.

Then things will be different here in the United States and in other countries in the world.

You might want to check out “Speaking my Mind” in audiobook format, to hear Reagan’s most powerful work.

Then do it.

Not far from me, about 6 families of young folks have invested in farms. They live in traditional family units and their goal is self-sufficiency. Some have savings to see them through the learning period. Some are working part time while building their foundations. They home school. They made their own jobs. They are a community.

Perhaps 20 miles from them, 40 Orthodox Jewish families from Chicago have built a community. Some of the men still work in the City and are only out here on weekends. Otherwise, they, too are building their future.

There are Evangelical congregations here that are in their 3rd generation. There is love, family values and morals that the parents and children take almost for granted, thanks to the work done by the grandparents 35 years ago.

We are elders who came to the country from the city 35 years ago to establish a self-sufficient lifestyle, for exactly the same reasons people are doing so today. We invented and re-invented ourselves as times demanded and have always worked for ourselves. We provide services and manufacture goods to sell.

Yes, we have Internet, obviously. TV is nearly gone, we keep it totally turned off at the wall when it is not being watched. I would guess 1-3 hours/day, 3 days/week, at the moment. Cell phone is no-frills model with prepaid minutes, camera and no net or text. It is handy when the phones go out or one of us is on the road for work or shopping. We would really miss the Internet and we do use it for business, so it stays, for now. But we lived w/o it and w/o TV and w/o cell phones for 25 years or more, so we will do so again, if necessary.

It can be done by anyone who wants to do so. You and your generation need to pull up your sox, get out of the cities and set yourselves free. Bitching about your chains doesn’t make them lighter. The Internet, for now, can be your education. There are millions of sites dedicated to teaching how to do almost anything yourself. For the price of a connection, some print cartridges and several scores of reams of paper, you can download whatever you need for reference. You can network with others who are already out in the rural areas making a new life for themselves. 35 years ago, we had to do this by going to a library, investing in books and having face-to-face meetings. We did it before Reagan and without Tea Parties. You can certainly do it now.

True. I'm not going to stop it. One of the things about every generation is all believers In Christ have thought and expected His return during their life time The unbelievers has no concern regarding this and simply live however society IS at the time.. So far it is an unknown time. We see the signs ... world wide instant communication, carrying the message Of Christ to the world. Israel, as a nation, Aliyah of Jews, looming war in the middle east. Currently it seems the whole world is against Israel. One world government, one world religion arising. etc., etc.,

We are to live ... “in the world not of the world”. My point about all the technology isolating, and being devoid of real personal relationships, is tragic in my view. It does effect the people today and their life. That we can change. Stop some things possibly. Not knowing when life as we know it will end, let us be about our Father's business. Stop the complete waste of life lived in riotous living. Sorry it is a huge area of discussion.

God bless us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.
