WIMBLEDON, England - Serena Williams swept Vera Zvonareva in straight sets Saturday to win her fourth Wimbledon title and 13th Grand Slam championship, extending the Williams family dominance at the All England Club.

The top-ranked and defending champion American overwhelmed the 21st-seeded Russian 6-3, 6-2 in a one-sided final that lasted just 67 minutes and showed why Williams is considered one of the greatest players of all time.

Williams served nine aces, broke three times and never faced a break point in nine service games. She finished the tournament without dropping a set.

Now that she’s winning, she’s a good sport. I’d like to hear her talk again when she’s losing (Remember Kim Clijsters ?)

When are real ladies coming back into the game?

Yeah, I remember and thought at the time that she should be banned for a while. Intolerably bad sportsmanship.

She seems to have fore and aft balance superiority on the court ~ allowing her arms to rotate to whatever position she needs to return anything coming at her.

... and showed why Williams is considered one of the greatest players of all time.

No, merely one of the winning-est players of all time.

And, women's tennis, which used to be a great sport, has now become a crass, over-hyped caricature of itself.

I have found this to be true of many big people, both women and men. They can move like cats, IF they are in shape. LOL.

But Serena is in a class all by herself. I am very proud of her.

I think she was incredibly rude, but then, athletes seem to remain rather juvenile these days, for a long period of time. Lets hope she evolves further with some grace.

This kind of fore and aft balance?

I don’t like twofaced players that are nasty angry players oncourt, then all smiles after. Nadal is the same.

I look at the way they are on court, not after.

Kinda’ like that. I’m convinced it gives her a substantial “athletic” advantage against all of her opponents.

Off the court they're both just women. On the court they are athletes.

Dancers are like this too ~ and when competing ~ and virtually ALL dance these days is competition ~ much of it FORMAL competition where you win points in your league ~ they have their game face on.

Both ladies are still slower than the men. In fact, ladies tennis is the only kind I ever watch because you can see how the players decide and act. Men's tennis is just a ball going somewhere just out of sight.

The lack of will by those who run the sport to exact any serious and painful consequences for childish behavior by their "stars" makes any such evolution unlikely. The only thing likely to mellow her behavior is when the inevitable decline in her abilities, dominance and ranking in the sport makes her a less valuable commodity.

I think it was her sister that wore the “Lingerie” outfit recently. I submit in evidence: If it were Serena in the indecent costume, there would have been vomit all over the bleachers.

You must be thinking of that commie wonder, Martina Navratilova, who truly was a fugly, adam-appled, man-handed freak.

Venus does wear some wild, tacky outfits on the court. Both sisters look good and nicely dressed when they want to.

I dunno, how many years elapsed from the inception of women’s professional tennis until a black woman won a singles championship? Probably that long.

Venus and Serena know tennis, know how to win at tennis, know how to teach tennis ~ and outside of the athletic arena they aren't terribly noteworthy for anything out of line.

I strongly suspect both these young ladies will end up with guys who respect them and share their interests, and that could be any color of guy.

I also suspect their daddy is really negative about any of them considering anything like leaving the nest considering that he didn't manage to protect their older sister. That had to really hurt him.

Count him ANTISOCIAL for shur ~ is he picky about it ~ PROBABLY NOT.

You want to make yourself popular at work ~ just pay attention to the ladies into competitive dance ~ hip hop, Persian, Bollywood, etc. ~ they don't have many fans out there but each other, but they really, really, really devote an incredible amount of time and emotional effort to the activity.

So, you're a married guy ~ don't worry. They want the fans, so just keep whatever else in your pants ~ maybe your wife would like to get in on the dancing too. If you're single, you have an edge with them. And how do they look? Hey, all these women look GREAT, FIRST CLASS, TOP DRAWER when in costume and doing their stuff ~ true beauty.

My wife loves Minyo dancing. We are fortunate around here that there's a Japanese Buddhist temple that does Obon ~ then there are a couple of Japan themed folk festivals. It's great stuff for the family, but I don't think competitive Minyo is found outside San Fran, Chicago, Los Angeles and Indianapolis.

When are real ladies coming back into the game?

When power and speed are no longer decisive?

IOW, when it's called "badminton."
