U.S. inventors have dreamt up the ultimate in lunchtime convenience food for busy consumers - a sandwich in a can. The aptly named Candwich comes in three flavours - peanut butter and strawberry jam, peanut butter and grape jam and barbecue chicken - and is being sold in vending machines across Utah. Marketed at people on the go including students, construction workers and 'soccer moms', the canned sandwiches do not require refrigeration and have a long shelf life.

We’ve long had canned hamburgers, so why is this so revolutionary.

A step backward, really.

Greaaaat. More junk for me to find with my non-descriminating metal detector. I’ve found thousands of those damndable vienna sausage cans in my searches - sausage cans, pull tabs and aluminum foil.

In 1988, I was digging a foxhole near Hanau Germany can came up with a can of cheese (c-ration) with a manufacture date of 1943.

We dared the commo corporal to eat it.

He did, and survived.

A step backward, indeed! Sandwich in a can sounds quite revolting. Ugh.

I've known a bunch of inventors--I invented a fairly successful product myself--and the last thing I'd call them is lazy.

I meant “lazy” as in always looking for ways to make things easier or more convenient.

It’s the American way!

Not lazy as in laying on the couch watching TV with potato chip residue around their mouth.

heh

Kind of a good idea for a soda company to buy this and sell soda and sandwiches out of the same machine!

Hey, that cheese may have come from the same batch which Captain Queeg 'discovered' had been stolen by some 'chowhound' ... earning himself a nice commendation award.

Now ... about those missing Strawberries .......
