NEW YORK (AP) -- An upcoming New York City auction will feature the belongings of movie cowboy Roy Rogers - including the preserved remains of his famous horse, Trigger.
Christie's in Manhattan held a preview Friday for next week's auction. The items are from the now-closed Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum in Branson, Mo.

You left one out.....it’s now illegal to buy a kitten in San Francisco.
I’m suspecting that very little of Ted’s wealth went to the IRS. He grew up with a trust fund, plenty of wealth management and estate planning advice - and he had a lot more advance notice of his “final illness” than most people have.
Speaking of Roy Rodgers - I will never forget the last time I saw him on TV - on David Letterman. At the end of his segment he sang “Happy Trails to You” a capella. It knocked me out.
When did the museum close ?

Jimi Hendrix ended the Woodstock concert. Originally he was to open AND close Woodstock with the final song being sung by Roy Rogers ("Happy Trails To You") except Roy turned him down (so says Michael Lang).

I’m sure that money is well-secured in trust funds several layers deep.
I do remember they had to sell some of Jackie O’s stuff when she died to cover the inheritence taxes.

Yes, and Jackie’s estate was UNDERVALUED when you saw how much money the items were “appraised” at and what they brought at auction (didn’t JFK’s oval office desk bring $250,000?). Yeah, but it’s just a desk, $20,000 tops, right?

This is heartbreaking. For a time, Roy Rogers was a hero to a generation (or two) of children. I suppose this liquidation would be inevitable with an estate that includes so many children, but one would think that the museum items would have been protected from this type of thing.
His memorabilia truly belongs in the Smithsonian. Archie Bunker’s chair is there, so the beloved Trigger should be there, too. Roy Rogers was part of the greatness of America, and this is a tragedy that most of the items will not be preserved as such.
..or knocking up governors' daughters.

“All property rightfully belongs to the federal government??” I know one of the the Rogers grand children and, let me ask you, do you know the history of Trigger and how much of Roy’s hard earned cash he, NOT the government, initially paid for this dazzling horse? Or do you know the tens of thousands Roy, NOT the government, paid to have this icon stuffed? The U.S government is a disgrace in the way it pirates hard-earned estates, than you very much. Thank God, Roy and Dale can’t see what treasures are being sold JUST so their heirs aren’t slammed by the government.
