I missed his rant, and have only been reading about the fallout. Did he say something that was not true? Did he get angry in public? I’m one of those people who never says things he doesn’t mean, but I believe most people say things they don’t mean all the time. I’ve witnessed it - a lot.
I don’t mean to be cutting him slack, but I don’t know what he said or, more importantly, under what circumstances. Nor do I know what his follow up response was. I’d rather not cast the first stone...
All I can say is most of us are lucky we’re not public figures.
Here’s a little Poem by Emily Dickinson dedicated to all of us who are nobody’s...
I’m nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there’s a pair of us don’t tell!
They’d banish us, you know.
How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!
They called him MAD MAX for a reason.
It was a particularly cruel rant - calling his girlfriend all sorts of things. Sounded like he was very inibriated (not to give him an excuse). Google Mel Gibson Rant and I’m sure you can find it. However, listen with caution.
Like some earlier posters who mentioned Satan getting to him for making “The Passion of the Christ”, I tend to agree, and alcohol seems to be the vehicle of choice for the torment.
No matter the cause, Gibson still needs to account for his actions in some way. Too bad really.
Mel committed the greatest sin known to man, he used the “N” word.
She taped his phone call.It was pretty raw.
Getting caught on tape using the n-word (and in the context of gang rape) will kill a career, real fast.
If he's a mean drunk, that could explain his rages...Had a friend that was funny and personalble, very likable, but at a certain point of drink, (you could see it coming) he turned mean as hell....didn't remember it the next day...
