Every morning before school, Barney the rabbit could expect a little treat and a bit of loving attention.
But when his owner, 13-year-old Kiera Bailey, came downstairs to make her daily check on him, the schoolgirl received a dreadful surprise.
Instead of her beloved pet - bought nine years ago after a bad experience at school - there was an empty hutch and a threatening note, apparently from animal rights extremists.

Animals rights activists are scum
No, the father just needs to collect a “Lucky Activist’s Foot”....
Sounds fishy to me. I bet the rabbit died and this was the parents’ way of telling her. A nine year old rabbit?
How stupid. That has got to be the dumbest stunt!
I hope they go to jail.
It's a mistake to think that the perpetrators if this crime have any "intentions" other than to hurt, destroy and terrorize. They don't give a damn about anything or anyone, particularly a simple rabbit. It's all about putting fear in your hearts and seizing control for their master.
I pray that these children use this lesson as a catalyst towards becoming human death knells for the pinkogreen movement.

Excellent! :)
Socializing? Really? The disconnect with these people is astounding. Also, they consider this animal cruelty but they have no problem with abortion?
i’d like to read the threatening note.
According to what I’ve read - some rabbits can live as long as 15yrs.
It was a captive rabbit breed used for pets
7 to 12+ years according to some vet sites
We had one. His name was Thumper. He had free run of the house because he was trained to go in a box.
We decided that WE were not being fair to him and let him free....because we knew there were rabbits under the shed a couple houses away.
The note is right and it is not a threat and I doubt it is an activist. It's just someone with the right idea.
I feel sorry for your children.
They deserve two adult parents, and are at least one short.
Stealing is a “right idea”?
APf
Yeah stealing a child’s pet
this a rabbit was a pet breed
Dear Mr. domesticated rabbit, if you had a choice, would rather live a long pampered life with a human of get eaten alive by a coyote?
Reminds me of those freaks who ‘freed’ two dolphins from a research site in Hawaii some years ago. They’re probably still starry-eyed about their ‘compassionate act’. Lord knows what happened to those animals-a quick meeting with a Great White was probably the best end imaginable. Lord, deliver us from our own insanity.
“We decided that WE were not being fair to him and let him free....because we knew there were rabbits under the shed a couple houses away.

So how did you know Thumper was going to get along with these other rabbits under a shed a couple houses away? Maybe the other shed rabbits weren’t going to let him in their gang. Maybe he became socially awkward by learning to only go in boxes and not under sheds so he wandered aimlessly through the woods, hiding under other sheds, alone and afraid.
I feel the same way about my dog...I mean, techincally he’s a wild animal and I’m not being fair to him by feeding, bathing, walking and playing with him. Yeah, he’s got a few extra pounds from praising his good behavior with some treats. I’m such a bad pet mom. He has such a horrible life...some punk needs to come and steal him so they can give him a better life...
