I liked the Sharon Jones record, but it's not her best.

I also enjoyed Psonic Psunspot - pretty good for a spoof project.

The 13th Floor Elevators are already wildly overrated - the Roky Erickson disc, what I've heard of it anyway, seems completely underwhelming.

The Sharon Jones record is definitely more sedate than the others and not a good place to start (I had seen her a number of times over the year but picked this one up when it came out). I’ve played it through more than the others on my list.

I wanted some of the cuts from both of the Dukes of Stratosphear albums but the pressings aren’t cheap and this one had more cuts. Some of it is hit and miss for me, not as strong as the individual tracks I’d heard.

I’ve been seeing Roky’s revival shows over the past 5 years and liked them. This is new (some “salvaged”) work accompanied by Okervill River (which have been the least interesting of the performers I’ve seen backing him). It was a record store day purchase, originally the hype was the vinyl would be a RSD purchase only.

I did have another Record Store Day purchase now that I think of it, The Flaming Lips (with others) covering Dark Side of the Moon (LP + CD included).

I'll be damned if I am going to send money to an industry who is instrumental in the destruction of my country.

I also love the irony that they screamed for socialism and now their industry is being destroyed by it. I love it! love it! love it!

They were great. Back in 1989-'90, every few months they would play a bar called Picasso's in Bowling Green, KY. I didn't realize they were from Nashville, and I remember thinking they should be on tour nationwide, not playing a little (but very cool) bar in BG. A while back I finally tracked down their CD on E-Bay, and snapped it up. Sounds just as good now as it did back then.
