We need a music thread.
Raul Malo -- Lucky One
The National -- High Violet
Mark Mulcahy -- Love's the Only Thing That Shuts Me Up
Danny & the Champions of the World -- Streets of our Time
Danny Barnes -- Pizza Box
OK. I’ll come clean.

Music discussion PING
I’ll give you the last three, since I can’t remember far enough back for the other two:
Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings
Frank Zappa - Zoot Allures
Eric Clapton - Complete Clapton
Muse - The Resistance
1) Badfinger-Wish You Were Here
2) Mott the Hoople—Mott
3) My Bloody Valentine-Loveless
4) the Jesus and Mary Chain-Psychocandy
5) Sonic Youth-Goo
Wells Hollow - Wells Hollow (Lamon)
Epica- Design Your Universe
Epica- Classical Conspiracy
The Agonist- Once Only Imagined
Dimmu Borgir- Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia
I also enjoyed Psonic Psunspot - pretty good for a spoof project.
The 13th Floor Elevators are already wildly overrated - the Roky Erickson disc, what I've heard of it anyway, seems completely underwhelming.
Black Crowes - Before the Freeze
The Dexateens - Red Dirt Rising
The Hold Steady - Stay Positive
Lucero - 1372 Overton Park
Note: The Crowes and Lucero are first among equals on this list.
Note, pt. 2: Miley Cyrus? Really?
Webb Wilder - More like me
Unknown Hinson - Target Practice
John Hiatt - The Open Road
Kaiser Chiefs - Off with Their Heads
REM - Accelerate
can’t remember any more off the top of my head.
Regards,
1. All The Roadrunning by Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris
2. 40 Licks by The Rolling Stones
3. The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
4. Audioslave by Audioslave (and their other two albums)
5. A Sides by Soundgarden
I haven’t bought anything in the last two years since I got my XM Radio from my dad when he died.

New age light calm stuff.
The Sharon Jones record is definitely more sedate than the others and not a good place to start (I had seen her a number of times over the year but picked this one up when it came out). I’ve played it through more than the others on my list.
I wanted some of the cuts from both of the Dukes of Stratosphear albums but the pressings aren’t cheap and this one had more cuts. Some of it is hit and miss for me, not as strong as the individual tracks I’d heard.
I’ve been seeing Roky’s revival shows over the past 5 years and liked them. This is new (some “salvaged”) work accompanied by Okervill River (which have been the least interesting of the performers I’ve seen backing him). It was a record store day purchase, originally the hype was the vinyl would be a RSD purchase only.
I did have another Record Store Day purchase now that I think of it, The Flaming Lips (with others) covering Dark Side of the Moon (LP + CD included).
Here Come The Mummies, all 3 of their cd’s
It’s been a while since any new purchases but here some of my favorite artists:
Tab Benoit
Joe Bonamassa
Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets
Walter Trout
Roomful of Blues
Sugar Ray Norcia
Gary Moore
Robben Ford
The Hollywood Blue Flames
Sonny Landreth
Denise LaSalle
Jimmy Thackery
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (Multiple CD’s) as a books on CD which was a free download I found on the web with other classic novels available as well.
Yes, I have eclectic tastes.
It’s 25 O’Clock.
Steve Taylor rocks.
I like Muse, too.
I like Lucero a lot...one of my favorites.
Mozart Piano Concertos 15 and 27.
Mozart Piano Concerto 21 and Chopin Piano Concerto 1 performed by Dinu Lipatti.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

I recommend this solo release by Steve Taylor. Very much in the vein of Chagall Guevara.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
People still buy CDs?
I bought a 9 disc Stravinsky box set recently, is that 1 or 9. Bought a bunch of other stuff (some Blood Sweat and Tears, Wings, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan and van Morrison) at the same time. And since then the wife got me Valley of Neptune (Jimi Hendrix).
Mark Knopfler
The Byrds
Traffic (Steve Winwood)
Graham Parsons
Don’t have the titles of the CDs
Cage the Elephant
The White Stripes
The Black Keys
Little Walter
Richard Goode- The Complete Beethoven piano sonatas.
Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas
Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto/Piano Concerto
Some (Jewish) cantorial music (several CDs).
Folks, sorry for my square tastes, but I don’t really buy pop/rock anymore. Ironically, I used to have an LP collection worth dying for (Stones, Who, etc.)
