The tide was dead low when I got out today but I rode by the pomd anyway. It is usually best at high tide, when the saltmarsh is too deep to wade.
It was wall to wall waders, Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Little Blue Herons and White Ibis, plus a Roseate spoonbill out slumming.

eye candy,,,, thanks!
Beautiful images. How close are you to the pond?
Beautiful pictures. Thanks.
Beautiful.
These pictures are always so beautiful......do the birds no assume you are a part of the flock?
How is your health doing? Once again, thank you for sharing part of God’s creation with us......
Thanks for sharing some joy with us..
Excellent day! Are there any fish in the pond?
Beautiful! thanks
I move in slow and quietly, then sit still. Just got to be slow and deliberate, you meander like a grazing cow.
Thanks for posting that treat for the eyes and the soul. Just beautiful!
The trick of getting close is body language, they don't like eye contact or sudden moves. I'm pretty sure some of them recognize me as an individual, their eyes are made to see detail as well as motion.
Little shrimp sometimes, the eggs seem to survive drying out. No fish, they just bathe and drink here. When they’re feeding they don’t get along at all except for the Ibis and Spoonbills, they are nonaggressive. The Great Egrets and Snowy Egrets can be pretty fiesty. Nothing messes with a great Blue Heron when they are around, they don’t put up with company.
Great color on the spoonbill.
I love your photos, I still think of the last time I saw some, just gorgeous.
Thanks for posting, I look forward to these columns of yours:)
Thanks. I really enjoy your pictures.
About 2 weeks ago I noticed a hawk of some type on our property. Today I noticed a lack of chipmunk activity. Yippee! I like hawks.
Gorgeous ... these make my day!! :-)
IMHO.. those are some of your best captures. Each and every one of them were perfect. WOW
You live with some very beautiful creatures.
Beautiful photographs! Thank you for posting them.
“I’ve got portable oxygen now...”
Is it a concentrator or small bottles? I am fighting for the portable concentrator. I have been declined once, with them saying “it’s a connivence”.
If you have the portable concentrator..what kind and how do you like it?
Thanks. You’re the next best thing to being there.
What kind is the one with the red face and black tip bill?
Great pics.
I don't have a clue what Obamacare will do to my insurance, just keeping my fingers crossed
That is a White Ibis who hasn’t washed his beak long enough yet. They probe Fiddler Crab burrows and the mud builds up on the beak. Ibis are cool birds, laid back and cheerful. I’ve been able to get in a big flock of them and be surrounded, they just moved around me.
Awesome, and the spoonbills, wow!
I had the pleasure of seeing a Great Blue Heron one Easter Day when we strolled around a small lake. We were absolutely astounded by his size. I couldn’t believe he could get airborne. UNTIL one day my husband and I were sitting on the patio and the Great Blue.....well, how do I say it? I took three showers and shampoos before I was clean again. LOL!
And, your pictures are wonderful. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Makes you want to reach out and pet them, they’re so pretty.
The strangest one I had to look up in a book. It was a green heron, rather small in size and stood like it had a hunch back....1/2 the size of the greater blue.
The Green Herons are always around here but they are secretive, don’t see them often.
I took my granddaughter down to Sanibel about a month ago, and we went through Ding Darling twice. I got a few shots but not nearly what you have here. Did notice lots of fiddler crabs in the mud along the banks.
Always Fiddlers around, and little Stone crabs. The smaller herons, egrets and Ibis eat a lot of crabs. The curved beak on an Ibis is curved exactly like a Fiddler Crab burrow.
Thanks. I’ll look into that compressor route.
For around here, I’m fine with a bottle. I don’t use them much. just on bad days. I use the concentrator at night, every night.
My issue is that I want to travel again in our Airstream trailer... sure can’t count on there being bottled air everywhere and I could never carry enough for a 3-4 week trip. That would mean that I would be required to stay in the trailer with the concentrator, especially in high altitudes.
I have to find a fix. grrrr
They have a demand regulator like a scuba rig, the Oxygen only flows when you inhale so you aren't wasting much.
I’ll be check on that gizmo first thing in the morning. Thank you very much.
What’s the name brand and any other identifiers?
This sounds like it would work perfectly for me.
Thanks for the terrific (as always) pictures today!!
Outstanding !
Amazing photos, as usual. You always make my day. THanks.
Oh, wow, I wish I had several of those pictures enlarged and framed!
DANG! Bullseye by the great blue bomber. They are lucky you didn’t put out an order for a whack, or turn your property into a no fly zone.
Hi..
I started out trying to research what you are using. Before I really got into it, I decided to go with the portable Respironics Ever Go Portable Oxygen Concentrator, 9 pounds, instead.
I learned that the 5K price that is advertised, is what they would charge the insurance co. BUT, for us slaves, they drop it to $2,500. So, I splurged and hope to get the bucks back through my retirement board or appeal to the insurance co.
Anyway, thanks for the info, I am glad that you now have more freedom. If our travels ever take us near you, I’ll buy you a few breaths of air. ;>)
Dan
I don’t remember ever posting on one of your photo threads before, but it’s high time I do. You have such a great eye (and some pretty sweet boxes, too). The web is full of “nice” photos on various topics, but yours...they’re in a class by themselves. They’re pure pleasure to view. Thank you so much for sharing this beauty with us.
