No Link. Steve Gibson is buying rights to newspaper content for the purpose of suing bloggers for posting the content without permission. The article at the link refers to this as a "copyright trolling litigation campaign". He scours the internet looking for content used without permission and uses the severe penalties in the Copyright Act (up to $150,000 per violation) to force a quick settlement.
Sounds like what people have been doing with IP for a long time
Attempting to post this, I received a message saying Wired.com has complained and that the article would not be posted. I encourage you to check Wired.com for the article if your are interested in reading more.
The journalistic equivalent of ambulance chasers.
Just in case anyone doesn’t know, these are the jerks who are suing FR:

The title of the Wired article is “Newspaper Chains New Business Plan: Copyright Suits”. Should be easy enough to find.
My guess is that other newspaper groups could start bringing more suits, and go back in blog archives for comments even years old.
My question is: If you are a blog owner what are you to do? Should you start going through all back posts, scrubbing them of all quotes? What about posts left by others?
It is my understanding that some of these include instances where someone made a short quote of 1-3 sentences and gave a link... that has been considered “fair use” until now. Authors have always been able to give short quotes from another’s work for the purpose of reference, critique or review. Is that understanding still applicable?
Should blog owners adopt a “No Quote” policy? Or a “No Images” policy? Or a “No Link” policy?
How do we protect ourselves?
Its OK. Even less people will read them...and in the end it empowers the web world and those who WANT to be read and discussed. The ideology behind most newspaper writers and editors today is best used for birdcage lining anyway.
You know there's something wrong with the newspapers when you try to put some paper in the bottom of your parrots cage and he squawks "Why are you puttin' that &#!% IN my cage?!"
They going for the SCO model?
Interesting the timing - so close to the Brietbart/Sherrod controversy. Interesting that just today(yesterday) Sherrod told Media Matters that Brietbart should be shut down. Interesting that CNN has talking heads talking down bloggers at the same time.
There are no coincidences.

I don’t understand why you would ping him this early in the day.
He works for the local buffet and is in charge of the Salad Bar.
Shift ends at 2pm, right after the lunch rush.
Please.
Do NOT make fun of people who work in restaurants. Remember, there are no menial jobs, only menial attitudes.
(Besides, they don’t let him touch the food. He’s the busboy.)
Oh, Jimmie?!?

Jimmie is on a date with his girlfriend,
