Ex-New Jersey man? They will kick you out for self abuse? Same here in Idaho. We used to have population of about 6 million.

Man, this is a weird story. I hope a witness pops up...Something stinks to high-heaven in this story.

Dude is way too literal. If his last name was Cooper would he have been discovered making barrels in Branch Brook Park that night?

Gaymon, who was unarmed, lunged at the officer and tried to disarm him while threatening to kill him during the struggle

Not his first bad choice of the day, but apparently his last.

I also have to note the irony that Gaymon, who was a gay man, seems to have displayed his weapon while remaining unarmed. Keep your hands where I can see 'em!

Someone needs to lay down some rules.
Sounds too much like a “hot-pursuit” death.
If I’m hangin’ on to my “best friend” I shouldn’t expect to get shot...

“”(Gaymon) reached into his pocket, and attempted to disarm the officer,” Laurino said”

Dead guy tried to do both these things at the same time?

He was killed after making the detective the victim of an assault with a friendly weapon.

How many hands did this poor sob have? One in his pocket, one grasping his friendly, and one administering the Vulcan grip to the cop?

There isn’t such a thing as “ex N.J.”. They are always identifiable, just like smallpox survivors!

Masturbating, propositioned the cop, ran away, threatened to kill the cop, and reached into his pocket. Damn! I’m surprised the cop didn’t claim the guy made a deathbed confession before he expired.

and attempted to disarm the officer

Yeah, by saying something like, "You're really cute for a policeman."

I don't think I've ever been caught masturbating. Had I known the penalty could be so high, I would have been more careful.

And they think the Arizona cops need better training.

How sadly ironic (or not ironic, I’m never sure) that his name is “gaymon”. And he looks really, really gay in the photo. Don’t know who was wrong or who was right here, but what a horror for his wife & kids.

Ok, where is the evidence, that one is so far out I would never take a cops word for it.

I think this is why the guy apparently freaked out so bad...he was a closeted gay with a wife, kids and good job back in Atlanta. Went away for a school reunion in NJ and got a little frisky. Seems like maybe the cop could have handled it without killing the guy....but I wasn’t there and don’t know all the facts.

Understatement, running a dumb-ass down and killing him for shaking his winkie at him. I don't think training is a cure for that one.

Nonetheless, prayers up for the poor sod's family.

Like, *PING*, dude. Some nice comedic grist for your mill.

The detective and his partner had just made an arrest at Branch Brook Park while investigating complaints of public sex when he realized his handcuffs were missing and began to retrace his steps, Laurino said.

The jokes just write themselves, don't they?

Cheers!

I would never take a cops word for it.

Neither would I. A guy is going to attack a cop while he has his johnson in hand?

He, (Gaymon), probably thought he was about to be "jacked", (that means robbed for those in Rio Linda), and was probably reaching for his wallet.

That I could believe.

I don’t want to even imagine.

That said, I’m going to guess that it was justifiable.

Doesn’t surprise me that this happened in beautiful Branch Brook Park. In addition to being, like so many parks, a major “cruising” spot for gay men, the park is so large that it is fairly easy to hide, even in the open, as there are portions where you can walk for awhile without seeing another human being.

One wonders why they were using undercover officers?
If the goal is to discourage certain behavior, simply put uniformed officers on a walking beat and in marked squad cars throughout the park.
There certainly wasn't a need for secrecy.
