You are so right. And I expect that there are a chosen few who have stimulus money in their pocket that shouldn’t.
A bit off-topic, but a pet peeve of mine. IMO, Congress should NOT be setting its own pay and perks - the voters from their states should be. When WE want a payraise, we have to go to our boss and ask. So should they!!!
Calling a blog “associated content” doesn’t make it any less of a blog. You are allowed to post it unexcerpted. And this was like four paragraphs, hardly worth doing a one-sentence teaser and making folks go to a flash-laden site to read it, IMO. The blog will actually benefit from increased exposure here if it is actually posted here in full.

Americans Need Jobs, Not Welfare
American farmers have long been touted as being able to “feed the world”. In 2010 it seems that feeding Americans has been too tough a sell. Farmers are still raising crops, but people who don’t have jobs don’t have money. It takes money to put a roof over your head and fill your kid’s bellies.
Dateline showed a town in Ohio that had many people out of work and no money for food, and in some cases, housing. Pick a state, pick a county, pick a town. Someone is hungry. How can that be in this great land of plenty? There are no jobs. No factories are being opened and many are still leaving the country. Leaving the country to pay someone else a check to feed THEIR families.

Are they worrying about you and your neighbor having a job? No. If you think they care you are in a dream world. If Congress cared about you, they would redo the taxes and tariffs on products made and sold in America. They would encourage factories to stay in America. Instead the factories have been closed down due to unfair trade deals and/or moved to other countries where cheap (slave if you will) labor is used.
The environmentalist have made it close to impossible to start up new factories. Everyone wants a safe place for people to work. Can’t factories and lawmakers come together for the good of America? SOMEONE has to have a lot of money to start up factories. I don’t mind those people making money as long as they pay LIVING wages to workers. Do we need a Union stepping in and making it impossible for the company you’re working for to meet their demands? Is there no happy medium?
Jeepers..got your panties in a wad? You put me in the mind of government. YOU are going to decide what is legit and right for all.

Okay, now that I’ve read it, here’s my comment.
The author may or may not be a conservative. I can’t tell by her jumbled, less-than-coherent stream of consciousness. “Pick a state, pick a county, pick a town. Someone is hungry. I don’t see anything in this author’s glorified vanity that actually educates or elucidates or otherwise makes it post-worthy. But maybe that’s just me.

Why the excerpt?
I’m getting tired of blogs being excerpted. Worse is wading through the linked blog to find the source used by the blog.
The federal government has gotten too big to handle or control. It's become a wild beast that threatens civilization. Everyone is daunted and afraid of this government and lets it do what it wants to. And it does not serve the people, it only serves itself. Our government is broken and needs to be rebuilt. The states need to break up the union and start from scratch, using the original constitution.
The only other solution is for Atlantis to rise again from the sea and all conservatives move there.
LOL..you must have had a bad weekend. I’m not here to critique anyone’s writing. I just happened to like to read AC, or is it AC/Yahoo now? Anyway, I saw that Dateline last night..don’t know if it was a rerun or not.
As for your complete disregard and unhappiness of this article, why did you even get it on it when you could see perfectly well that it was an Associated Content article?
I’ve read better and I’ve read worse. So what’s your point? Maybe you should list the material that I am allowed to post here, is that what Freepers has come to? I don’t think so.
I agree with you. I fear that anger is going to boil over. The father in that Dateline story said he was worth more dead than alive. If he was dead, his 2 kids could go on SSI. This was a guy who really wanted to work. There just aren’t any jobs there.
You’ve been here from virtually the beginning. I started lurking in 1999 and joined shortly thereafter.
You recall when FR was a place to post an article, then to discuss. We only truncated articles when FR got sued, and to avoid a hassle we truncate articles selectively.
My point is that FReepers should see themselves as part of a community, not a dropping-off point for blog teasers. I can’t make you see it that way, but I can certainly state my opinion. And out of fairness, I did read the story and I did comment (it was in fact an incoherent stream of consciousness blog). Her heart may be in the right place, but bad blogging is still bad blogging. Again, just IMO and when you post opinions to FR, you get opinions in return.

I still don’t see your problem, but it is YOUR problem not mine. Obviously you run the board and we will all do it your way. You’ve given your opinion on the author, story and AC. I hardly think I’m trying to keep anyone from giving their opinion.
I thought AC was a news source. It doesn’t look like a blog to me. But then these old eyes aren’t what they used to be.
So, do whatever it is you want to do..lol. Life is precious and time is short. If you feel better, then that’s what counts. That the article was trying to bring light to the hungry certainly is NOT more important than the points you are trying to make.

You have got your nerve accusing Larry Lucido of being for big government when you’re tossing around liberal talking points like “living wage.” Companies are not in business to support people; they’re there to make money. They can pay what they want, and people can take the job or not. Then everybody’s free, get it?
You want “factories and lawmakers to come together?” How about lawmakers keep their greedy, taxing, controlling, corrupt, slimy paws off our companies so they’re free to make money with their products and pay their employees?
I noticed that the only thing you ever post is articles by Sherry Tomfeld from this blog. Nothing else. Are you related to the author or do you just happen to think she is a really good author? I may disagre, but if you think she is worth reading, why are you just teasing it instead of posting it for all to see?
Yes, I do know her. I am sure that you are aware that for every 1500 or so clicks to an AC article the authors are paid somewhere between a dollar something and two dollars. I believe that it’s still that way.
This lady comes from where I live. She has always worked hard but got a debilitating ailment. This is what she does to try and make a few bucks..literally.
If it’s a crime to try and help someone out then I’m guilty. I run across her articles on canning and homesteading and have found them most useful.
So, you have had your fun. You now know why I post her stuff. Hope you feel good about yourself. I have indeed been here a long time at Freepers. I have enjoyed the information that it has. I don’t go out of my way to cause trouble, be rude or break rules. I don’t even post that much. I choose to share articles written by Sherry to help.
So what else do you need to know about? Are you satisfied or do you absolutely have to take this farther? What good have YOU gotten out of this? Just kicks? Just a way to kick start the week? Feel like a bigger, better and brighter person for putting someone else down? I hope you gained from it. Is there anything else I can do for you? Is there some way that between you, me and the others who so liked making fun of this .. maybe we could squeeze a few more yucks out of it?
