"American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi has reportedly been pink-slipped by Fox producers, TMZ.com reports, a day after Ellen DeGeneres bowed out of the show only one year into her lucrative four-year contract. Rumors are swirling that DioGuardi and DeGeneres' departure willmake room on the dais for Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.
On Thursday, DeGeneres revealed her decision to leave far short of the end of her four-year contract, saying her work schedule was too hectic and she didnt enjoy judging people. (We have no problem with that; she failed miserably as a judge.) Tart-tongued Simon Cowells departure to helm an American version of his British show The X-Factor was announced months ago.

Good. She was terrible. I got tired of listening to my wife complain about her being on the show.
Thought you might be interested in this.
Have a good one.

I just want to put on Toys in the Attic and remember when Steven Tyler was a toxic twin rather then a judge on some bubble gum pop show.
LOL!!!!
No loss. Too vanilla. So is Ellen and that black dude. Without hard hitting honesty, no show. Simon is all that makes that show run. Next years “American Idol” will be like watching “Andy Griffith” after Barney left. Like watching “Caddyshack 2” w/o Rodney and Bill Murray. Doesn’t work.

Maybe they could bring back Jaye P. Morgan.
I’m sooooo done with Idol. It was a nice escape from news but it’s gone way down hill. Without Simon, it’s finished.
Regardless of what they do, it’s going to be hard to replace Simon. Ditching Ellen and Kara, on the other hand, is a pair of great, albeit desperate, moves. They keep Randy for some measure of continuity (watch for him to leave the show next year, if it survives), and J-Lo, from what I recall, was actually a pretty good mentor and judge in a guest role.
Not sure how Steven Tyler will work out.
Replacing Simon is gonna be a tough one. Tommy Mottola is a music industry heavy-weight and kind of an ass-hole. He'd work.
Brett Michaels might be a good choice...

I'd prefer his wife.
I am proud to say I have no idea what this article is about.
I think we veered off into another conversation.
My wife and I actually made a game out of her. “I can put you on the radio”, “I can see you being a pop star, with better hair, and some make up you can be on the radio and have a video on TV.”
I’m just not a fan of the show. My wife is a huge AI head, though. She didn’t like the new lineup of hosts and I was the only one around for her to voice her displeasure to.
This doesn’t make sense because with Ellen and Simon gone, were are already 2 openings...now there are 3.
“DioGuardi and DeGeneres’ departure willmake room on the dais for Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.”
Well, that seems...arbitrary.
Billboard sent out an email saying that Jennifer Lopez was in. Yesterday Ellen went out. I don’t know if this Kara and Steve Tyler thing is true.
I think that Jennifer Lopez is definitely an upgrade over Paula Abdul or Ellen.
They’ll be able to find someone to replace Simon. Wouldn’t any record industry person work in Simon’s spot? Or are record industry people or ex record industry people truly incapable of being impolite? I would find that hard to believe.
If 19 or whoever makes the show really wanted to improve AI, they certainly could. They certainly could get someone better than Simon.
Last year, instead of beating around the bush, they could’ve told that one contestant “be more like Taylor Swift” instead of using a vague term like “commercial” or “marketable” or “young” or whatever. Simon was not famous before AI and being kinda a dick is not difficult at all.
Tommy Mottola could be fine. But any number of people could be fine.
The instrument has yet to be invented that could measure my indifference to this situation...
“I just want to put on Toys in the Attic and remember when Steven Tyler was a toxic twin rather then a judge on some bubble gum pop show”
Neither here nor there, but I can remember enjoying Aerosmith as a kid, circa “Janie’s Got a Gun” and “Cryin’”. When I got a little older and delved into “classic” rock, I always eschewed the boys from Boston. Which isn’t to say their latter was suddenly music all bad, just relatively tired. We’ve been there before, seen the show, and aren’t anymore surprised. Which wasn’t apparent to me as a ten year-old, but became progressively clearer.
Not until I listened to “No More, No More” did I get it. Hey, they actually were the whiskey-soaked barroom rockers their elderly dopplegangers pretended to be. Now I barely touch “Get a Grip” or the mighty power-ballads (though I’ll never dismiss “Cryin’”) in favor of “Toys in the Attic” and “Rocks.”
I normally roll my eyes at people who come onto threads to say they don’t care about the subject of a thread, however......never before have I read them describing their apathy so amusingly.
Are these people even eligible to be judges? Don’t they have to be confirmed by the Senate first? When are the hearings?
I’m confident you’d have to pretend but, I’d prefer you do it with some other person’s picture.
silly, its ‘new math’.
lol. so, that’s your story why you’re here posting?
Lol. well, thanks for being so polite and letting the rest of us being amused.
Or someone like Alice Cooper. He’s turned out to be a very cool DJ. He almost sounds conservative.
In an interesting non issue (maybe) Kara’s dad is also running as a Republican for Congress. Wonder if this had anything to do with her being fired?
Just speculation on my part, of course.
my bad
Meanwhile, Robert Gibbs told the people on “Fox & Friends” this morning that he was stepping down as the White House press secretary to become one of the judges on American Idol.

Alice Cooper, sure. If AI wants to it can seriously upgrade all the slots. And if it wants to it can replace every judge with someone worse.
The original judges were picked before AI was a huge hit. Top level celebrities were probably unlikely to sign on. No one in the states had heard of Randy Jackson or Simon Cowell, and Paula Abdul was not considered top level.
AI is now huge, and the producers can likely get almost anyone they want, pretty much. AI could pick famous talented experts on music, or tv talk show hosts who know nothing about music.
Jennifer Lopez is a good pick, a definite improvement in the Paula/Ellen spot. Steven Tyler would be good, but is he taking the Simon spot or the Kara spot? Does AI need to have 4 judges, with 2 women judges? I don’t see Steven Tyler or Alice Cooper being as nasty as Simon. And it would be good for someone like Mottola, or Clive Davis, or Jason Flom (who was on ZO2, a show on IFC). Someone like Matt Pinfield would be good. There should be someone there who is going to be listened to seriously and wouldn’t simply say the same things all the time.
A four-year contract??
We got off easy, lol.
Not if they go back to the three-judge panel. If Randy stays, there will be only two openings.
na - I’m just using my post as a placeholder and hoping for J-Lo pics
All I know about this topic is that Steve Tyler is the father of Liv Tyler (Arwen in ‘Lord of the Rings’). And that is the way I want to keep it.
I am glad they’re getting rid of Kara. Ellen seemed uncomfortable, so I think her bowing out is also a good thing.
I am in total agreement about Simpson. The show needs someone ditsy. I also like Harry Connick Jr. He’s funny and he knows music. Same with Timberlake, but I don’t see him taking it. As much as I love Bret Michaels, I think his health and family should take first priority.
That said, what about Ozzy? He’s sort of like Simon - *and* a bit of Paula thrown in to one! Now Mrs. Osborne, please don’t hunt me down, but Ozzy’s British and also a bit of a trainwreck. He’s sort of hard to understand sometimes, too. What do you all think?
It's Randy, if he stays, with 2 or 3 newbies.
The show is done!
Rumors are swirling that DioGuardi and DeGeneres' departure will make room on the dais for Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.
I bet Randy wants out now. They may have to bring Paula back. LOL!
He’s on my ipod. he’s got some good music.
They’d have to do sub-titles for Ozzy.
