PETA's taking aim at 'American Idol' contestant Kristy Lee Cooks new hunting reality show, but Cook's not afraid to fire back.
Goin Country, which began its eight episode run this weekend, follows the singer trying to land a record deal as she participates in hunts across the country. A spokesperson for the animal rights organization released the following statement to FOX411.com.
Instead of angering thousands of would-be fans by killing helpless animals on camera in attempt to get her '15 Minutes of Shame,' Kristy Lee Cook's fame crusade would be better served by following in the footsteps of fellow Idol alum-turned-country-stars Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickleras well as Simon Cowellall of whom have used their fame and talent to speak up for animals.
Underwood is a vegetarian, Pickler has spoken out about only wearing fake fur and former judge Simon Cowell is an advocate for animal adoption.
Cook shot back at PETA, defending herself and the thousands of Americans who hunt.

At the end, she hanged PETA on her wall along with her prize Buck!
Oh yes, PETA, the folks that euthanize adoptable dogs and then go on a dumpster hunt to dump the bodies......ok
Not Guilty! No way, no how.
“No one should make statements about things he knows nothing about. If they’ll refrain from statements about hunting and traditional American pursuits, I will in return promise not to talk about clueless totalitarian busybodies.”
Hmmmmm I like blondes, I like hunting, and I hate PETA.
Nothing wrong here! :)
D1 I pinged you because I thought you had a KLC thread going during her stint on AI. If you didn't I apologize for the interruption.
I don’t believe I did, but I actually do appreciate the ping. I had heard she was going to be doing this and can’t wait for her to tell PETA to put a sock in it.

Any excuse to go hunting or fishing is good enough for me.
I guess nobody ever explained to them that Mother Nature is a bitch.
Definitely not guilty.
More pictures wouldn’t hurt either.
Dying of "natural causes" ain't all it's cracked up to be if you're a bear or a deer. Given a choice between starving, freezing, dying of an infection, or being taken down by some toothy critter with no regard for your suffering, a swift .30 caliber execution starts to look pretty good.
