Defending champion Tiger Woods, right, continued to struggle on the golf course during the opening round of the Bridgestone Invitational on Thursday in Akron, Ohio. Woods, ranked No. 1 in the world and seven-time winner of the event, missed nine of 14 fairways and needed 32 putts at Firestone Country Club as he posted a four-over-par 74, 10 shots off the pace of first-round leader Bubba Watson.
Phil Mickelson is in a four-way tie for second, two shots behind Watson at four-under 66. Also tied for second are Kenny Perry, Adam Scott and Graeme McDowell.

After Giambi stopped the juice he was pretty average too.

Forearm muscles and the ability to have the stamina and ability to repair for Sunday. If your muscles are as strong on Sunday as they were on Thursday then you have an advantage.
If the PGA really is testing and will continue to test - this guy is toast. The PGA started testing a week after he took time off for knee surgery. How many months does it take to disappear from your system?
Disagree. Muscles an be “taught” to be at specific point (square face) at point of impact.
Myself included, golfers have attempted to achieve that position over years of practice w/out enhancements.
I stand to say...it can be done. My average drive is 275 and very straight (age 52). I don’t use stack&tilt.
I, for one, feel sorry for Tiger. Blue balls call play havoc on one’s golf game.

Nice. Sounds like Tiger could have used your driving today. 5 out of 14 fairways. He is not that long any more either. Phil is 6 year older and is not getting younger. He booms it past Tiger now and is almost as long as Dustin, Bubba and Quiros.
Little Rory McIllroy is under 5’10”, thin, young, no drugs and he crushes it. Rory is longer than Tiger. The young guys are passing him by. Ricky Barnes is another.
I have the Butch Harmon weighted driver and you can supposedly groove your muscles so the driver drops into the slot.
The jerks and Tiger fan boys over at Golf Wrx are saying his divorce is weighing on his mind and other BS.
Phil’s wife was very sick last year, he took time off and came close to winning the masters and us open while he won dorla, shanhai and I think 2 other tourneys.
Cletus - I think without HGH or ROIDs - Tiger does not have the muscle control he had to hit the fairways. His distance is also suffering.
The article says that Tiger wants to be on the Ryder Cup team - hope he doesn’t get selected.

It was worse than that for Phil. The sports media is pretty liberal and we would get Tiger is great and all those white guys are just filler. They would treat all the other golfers like they were garbage. A bit like the black shooter in CT was “justified” because of racism storyline the AP, CNN and others are pushing. Same insane political correctness.
Tiger fans boys are Johnny come lately golfers and golf fans and Phil was enemy #1 to them. The media would also rip into Phil plus he would get idiot hecklers on the course. Phil took and still takes a constant pounding. He hits one bad shot and he is an idiot. Phil is also a win or bust guy which makes him so damn entertaining.
The Tiger fan boys also rip Tiger’s old coach (Hank Haney) recently and Hank quit. It was all Hank’s fault Tiger was playng like sh*t. A bit like “Bush’s fault” on the economy from Obama.
The Tiger fans boys always made Tiger bigger than golf.
There is a Freeper who is a good golfer and was semi-pro. He shot a very good score at Bethpage where the US Open was held (hard course). Did endless gym stuff etc. When you spend hours in the gym - you know who is cheating. He is convinced Tiger used ROIDs and or HGH and so do I.
The Tiger fan boys over at GolfWRX said he looks bloated. I think he is off the juice now and he is just an average golfer. Reminds me of Giambi when he got off steroids. It just tapers off.

I did some searches. The benefits for steroids can last for 18 months.
Giambi still plays and he is a pretty good hitter (.278 this year) but he does not hit any home runs. Year to date - 4. Lifetime 412.
In 2009 - h did not played well against a real fields - ie when Mickelson was playing. Mickelson won Doral, Shanghai and shot lower scores thank Tiger at The US Open and The Masters. This is after Phil took off two months and dealt with a sick wife and mother.
These Tiger divorce excuses are lame compared to what Phil dealt with in 2009.
I despise the sports media as much as the State Controlled Media.
