A New Jersey couple who gave their children Nazi-inspired names should not regain custody of them, a state appeals court ruled Thursday, citing the parents’ own disabilities and the risk of serious injury to their children.

The state removed Heath and Deborah Campbell’s three small children from their home in January 2009.

A month earlier, the family drew attention when a supermarket refused to decorate a birthday cake for their son, Adolf Hitler Campbell. He and siblings JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell have been in foster care.

According to the article, the parents are both unemployed and have various disabilities. There are complaints on this guy from neighbors, and his ex-wife charged him with abuse years ago. The names weren’t mentioned in the ruling. Both of them are high school drop-outs and the guy can’t read. The mom gave a note to a neighbor saying that if she was found dead, that he did it and that she feared for the children if they were left in his care, and that he was trying to teach the son how to kill a person.

Geeez, this wouldn’t even make the press if he called them Joseph Stalin Campbell, Mao Tse Campbell, or Pol Pot Campbell. I always said if you want to sell a book, write about how to become rich, while having sex and put a swastika on the cover.

the parents are both unemployed and have various disabilities.

No bearing on anything.

There are complaints on this guy from neighbors, and his ex-wife charged him with abuse years ago.

Still nothing.

The mom gave a note to a neighbor saying that if she was found dead, that he did it and that she feared for the children if they were left in his care, and that he was trying to teach the son how to kill a person.

Nothing but allegations.

It’s about providing a safe environment. When the mom says “The dad is threatening to kill me” and that she fears for the child’s safetywith him, that’s sufficient for investigation. Apparently that added to his history of abuse complaints and and the parent’s various disabilites and history of abuse themselves was sufficient for removal in addition to other things possibly not mentioned in the article.

One side of the river Nazi names are a crime, the other side of the river they’re planning Mosques on sacred grounds where wounds still burn...Nuancing and sensitivity is so difficult.

Shouldn’t New Jersey be “ashamed” of their anti-German culture stance, Mr. Bloomberg?

I have a lot of problems with this... First off, the family court stated that the kids were NOT abused... The court that took them away stated reasons like both parents being unemployed and that the father was illiterate. In other words, the state is taking away the children because they don't like the sort of people the parents are... This is VERY dangerous. Home-schoolers? Nope, you can't keep your kids... Christians? Nope, you can't keep your kids either...

It's not anywhere near that bad... For now.

Exactly. The parents are indefensible but the constitution is not.

Wow, if that’s the level of your argument, I guess I win by default. Thanks.

“Like I said, I fail to see where the crime was committed.”

A crime hasn’t been committed. They did it because sometime in the future someone may hunt them. Sort of like some having their children taken away because they may grow up and become overweight. Oh that’s right, they are doing that in the UK.

Another freedom bites the dust.

In the mid-90s a single mother took her toddler downtown every day on the commuter train. As he began to walk around I heard her calling him by name — “Clinton”.

Jeez, I thought, why not just call him "Scumbag" and get it over with...

It did not state that the kids were not abused, the lower court did not find sufficient evidence. There is a BIG difference between not guilty and innocent. The decision was appealed to a higher court that over-turned the lower court’s finding. Also, I’m thinking the wife’s note that if she was dead he killed her and that she feared for the kids if left in his care probably had alot to do with it as well.

"No matter how you feel about this case, you have to have a heart for these kids. Who would want to go through life with those names???"

Someone named Barack.

So you oppose fascism by displaying fascism, Mr. Kraut?

Back in the late 80s whole Baptist congregations lost their children due to allegations of abuse at the hands of church members.

In the end, less than 1% of those accused were ever charged with anything and only a fraction of those charges where related to any kind of abuse. Most convictions were secondary charges.

It all pretty much died down when the investigations turned to the social workers for protective services were found to be coaching small children about what to say in court.

The judges considered a typo-riddled note signed by Deborah Campbell and given to a neighbour. In it, Campbell says that if she were found dead, her husband was to blame.

"Hes thrend to have me killed or kill me himself hes alread tried it a few times. Im afread that he might hurt my children if they are keeped in his care. He teaches my son how to kill someone at the age of 3," the letter read in part.

Deborah Campbell later acknowledged writing the letter but claimed it was all a lie.

It may not just be the naming.

So any German words are a display of fascism? Interesting.... My screen name is a moniker given by German soldiers to United States Marines during WWI. The Germans said that the Marines fight like the legendary Hounds of Hell from old German lore. Is that fascist?
