Picky Eaters: When Waffles and Fries Are All You Eat
ABC News ^ | 8/10/10 | Emily Friedman

Posted on 08/10/2010 12:55:47 PM PDT by MissTed

Bob Krause hates Thanksgiving, and not because of that all forced family time.

Krause, 63, calls himself a picky eater -- one who won't eat anything that's served at a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, or any other dinner, for that matter.

Krause survives on little more than grilled cheese sandwiches, French fries and waffles. And, like other picky eaters, Krause hopes that a registry of adult picky eaters, recently begun by Duke University and the University of Pittsburgh, will bring attention to a problem he believes should be considered a medical condition.

The registry, dubbed the Food F.A.D. Study, or the Finicky Eating in Adults study, has already attracted more than 2,000 participants. According to its website, the survey and registry was created to learn more about adults who describe themselves as picky eaters.

Don’t they ever have cravings for something good?

I know I feel like when my body needs somethign I get massive cravings for it.

I can tell when I am low on Vitamin C, for example, because I am dying for some orange juice.

My SIL’s brother at pizza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 30 years. Yes he has a quadrupole bypass.

If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it'd be sushi.

No kidding. When I was making weight for wrestling I had the meanest cravings for McDonald’s French Fries for the sodium.

Seems like there would be a lot of denial going on to only eat those three things.

Grrrr. Nothing peeves me more than picky eaters who expect you to cater to them.

In my house, they get a big can of MAKE IT YOURSELF

I wonder if finicky adults were coddled as children? Did Mom allow them to eat only what they wanted and would she make special meals for them? In my home, you eat what is on the table. I’ve never had an issue with someone not really eating a certain food. Just a thought

I’m afraid under the new guidelines, Bob will have to be put down. The fact that he will not conform only places a greater burden on the rest of society who must pay for his unprincipled and bad choices.

I won’t eat anything that wasn’t alive at one time.

That's why I kill it first......I don't wanna hear it scream while I am eating it.

I'm trying to get my 9-year-old to not be so picky. She was a preemie and when she was younger I would fix whatever I thought she would eat.

Now I don't fix anything special for her and she just picks at her plate. She's getting better, but it's been a process.
