Rihanna, who is a Barbadian-American singer, recently had inked her neck with a French tattoo, however, the bad news is, that the grammar has gone haywire.
The 'Rude Boy' superstar-singer flaunted her new tattoo, which read 'Rebelle Fleur', in New York.
But, a few of her admirers pointed out that a French translation of 'rebellious flower' would have to be in the other order.

As if the tattoo in her ear and on her neck hadn't already settled the question of if she's an idiot.

Ah yea the joys of getting a tattoo written in a foreign language that you don’t actually understand so you can’t verify if it’s correct.
Also the mark of an idiot.

Never interfere with idiots in the act of self-identification. A thank you note, however, is not required either.

It could be worse, I was expecting her tatoo to translate “rancid fart”.

LOL! When my oldest son was stationed in Okinawa he got a Japanese character tattoo. I asked him how did he know that it didn't say “ I suck “ or something worse. He was not amused.

I was told by a Chinese co-worker that many of the Chinese character tattoos are jokes that say “I’m Stupid”, etc., which she says is a much harsher insult in China... heh
Also, she says her mother saw someone with the Chinese characters for “Twice Cooked Pork”. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but pretty funny.
The tattoo artists can get pranked, if they ask a Chinese person to write the characters for them to copy, and that person has an evil sense of humor. :)

“DORK” would only have required 4 letters, saving her money...and “?” would have allowed fans to wonder if she was clueless, or questioning.

I met a girl who had a Kanji tattoo on her lower back. She said it was "Beautiful Goddess" My Japanese kendo partner told her it was really "Fat Pig Sow". She now sports a huge black tribal tramp stamp cover up.
We still make pig noises when we see her. LOL

Anybody else see the report a few years ago where a study determined that about half of all foreign language ( Chinese, Hebrew, etc. ) tattoos were either insults, misspelled, gibberish, or backwards? The backwards ones came from people scanning, copying, or photographing what they thought looked cool for a tattoo and the original was “mirrored” at some point in the process.
To: Fletcher J
I was told by a Chinese co-worker that many of the Chinese character tattoos are jokes Some years ago, when Mayor of San Antonio, Henry Cisneros went on a tax payer funded junket, err, business development trip, to Japan. Several members of the San Antonio news media went along.
One TV reporter had the foresight to have business cards printed in Japanese. Unfortunately, he had the Japanese translation provided by the wife of a fellow station employee. After the Reporter came back from Japan, the lady informed him that the business cards he had handed out all over Japan described his occupation as "sumo wrestler."

LOL... That’s a good one.
Speaking of business cards, way back during the “dot com” days, there was an executive with EarthLink who’s official title on his business cards was “Head of Lettuce”. No lie, that’s what he wanted. I can’t remember what his function actually was.
I have a lot of good stories from there, since that was an interesting place to work... The call center staff were especially interesting. heh
