I am sick and tired of this site being taken over by Catholics ( of which I am one ) stories or proverbs. This is a news site not a religion site. Go do that somewhere else. I am not opposed to your prostilazion(sp), just not here. We lose credibility if any religious group dictates or can be quoted from this site.
As a long term member of this site I regret posting this information, but the site has been buried in Catholic stuff recently and it should be shunted to some separate page.

I deeply regret having to post this , but for some strange reason, or perhaps, people we are bombarded with Catholic stuff. As a Catholic, wanting to read news I regret those postings and think they belong elsewhere, perhaps the Catholic site. There have been so many Catholic postings that have no relevance to "NEWS" that it is irresponsible to call this a news site. I ask Mr. Robinson to channel these postings to a new Catholic location and let the news run
Thank you.

Just change your bookmark to news and you can ignore the Religion forum posts altogether.

I have a feeling if the PTBs didn’t want religion posts, they wouldn’t have made a religion category.

Are dogs OK with being on a lease? I was going to post a new article on this over the weekend. Maybe I still will but for now, I'll post it here. I can't help but think that dogs are humiliated being on a lease. Yet my dog seems so happy to be on one when we go for a walk. Perhaps that dog thinks that it is I that is on a lease and that the dog is actually taking ME for a walk.
That thought comforts me in a strange kind of way.

You have to learn to give a little and take a little.
As others have already said, you can change your settings so you won’t see most of the religious items.
But occasionally, religion gets into the news, and occasionally religion is relevant in speaking about news items.
But, to repeat, give a little & take a little. If we all could veto things we didn’t like, soon there would be nothing left.

I completely agree with you. To counter this, I’m going to start posting pages and maybe whole chapters from a book I’m currently reading which is entitled “The Reformed Doctrine of Predestination.” If we have to plow through Catholic bilge every time we sign on to FreeRepublic, Protestants better be given equal time.
To: learner
Hey, I'm a proddy, and though I have noticed what seems to be an over abundance of Catholic threads lately,
BUTT I will back the Catholics right to post them.
People have the right to post what they want, as long as its within tasteful norms.
Thats what makes us better than the pagans over at DU. They don't like it, they shut it down.
Here, don't read them.
Yes, we have to be aware that others read our sight, and thus be cautious how we post. But censorship of religion, beyond current guidelines would be bad. It would smack of political correctness.
(Yes I spelled it BUTT ;^)

You probably have your page layout set to “Everything.”
To change it:
1. Look for the “Configure Sidebar” link.
2. Click on that to go to the My Page Layout screen.
3. In the list of Blocks, set “Browse by Forum” to “Right.” (You can select another direction, but let’s just select “Right.”)
4. Click the Modify button.
A list of forums appears on the right.
Notice that there’s one exclusively for Religion.
You never have to click on that ever again.

Just change your bookmark to news and you can ignore the Religion forum posts altogether. That's wonderful, but what if I want to track "Bloggers & Personal" too? I must either exclude half the "good threads" (by filtering only "News/Activism," which excludes the blogs), or track the swell religious threads that have titles like "Look here! Must read" or "Dissent Poisons" (by choosing "Everything").

Us Protestants do have equal time.
IF you feel lead to post pages from a book go ahead. But please don't do it out of a spirit of one upmanship.
Do it for edification of others.

As far as Im concerned, the best time in the history of the world was when Catholics were regularly fed to the lions. I don't think there ever was such a time. In the early days they were simply Christians; only later, post-Constantine, was the heirarchy established and the dogma laid down.

Your opinion does not belong in breaking news, and in the religion forum, which Free Republic has one each of, there are a number of Catholic posters.
Either:
1. stay away from the religion forum
or
2. stop hitting “everything” when you look for comments.

"Omnipresent"? No matter what you click, there they are, crowding in, imposing on you?
You have hard time with "click," maybe? You have a hard time with "choice"?
I know I do. Why are there so many brands of toothpaste? So many kinds of breakfast puffs and flakes? If only Wal-Mart would cut it back to, say, one or two. It would come to the rescue of my breathless, boggled, embattled serenity, that's for sure.
