I happened to see Zappa about this time, in Berkley no less. Even had the t-shirt!

That’s two stink out loud lists I’ve seen from gibson.com over the past few months...at least they’ve heard of Frank Marino...

That’s a pretty good list all in all. Some odd ones in there, and a strong representation of ‘70’s albums.

For the record I own a ‘71 Gibson LesPaul Custom Sunburst, with mother of pearl inlays - possibly the greatest electric guitar make and model on the planet.

I would have liked Jane’s Addiction Nothing’s Shocking on that list as my sentimental favorite, as my wife and I drove to New Orleans when we were first together blasting that all along the way...and maybe Smashing Pumpkins, and Sonic Youth and, and, and...

Yeah, only 1 album from the 2000s and only 5 from the last 20 years in all. Not much love for those decades. I would have thought Rage Against the Machine’s first album would have made it.

I would agree. Maybe Dire Straits s/t. Knopfler is criminally underrated.

"15. The Sex Pistols, Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols (1977)"

You have got to be kidding me. That band played the same three chords (using the same non-melody) in every song they ever wrote. I'm surprised not to see Brian May of Queen listed. He's a very underappreciated and overlooked ax man. I'd put his work on "Queen II" and "Shear Heart Attack" with any album on that list. I didn't see any B.B. King either.

Well, I certainly wouldn't quibble with any of those Top 10 .. all are excellent 'guitar' albums.

Haven't read the full article yet so can't comment on the next 40, but here's hoping that The Who "Quadrophenia" and "Who's Next" are in there somewhere :)

Are we talking “of all time”? Surely Les Paul and Chet Atkins deserve a place at the top, even if they were not best known for their albums.

Just ask any of those guys on that list, Eddie VH, Robert Plant, Eric Clapton...they’ll tell ya.
