Wide receiver Percy Harvin collapsed on the field at the Minnesota Vikings' practice Thursday and was taken to a hospital in an ambulance, according to reports.
Harvin has suffered from severe migraine headaches since childhood.
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Harvin suffered a migraine earlier Thursday.
"I don't know how to classify" the episode, Vikings Coach Brad Childress said, according to the Star Tribune. "Not really a seizure, but he had some trouble over here. I'd be remiss if I tried to qualify it one way or the other. He seemed like he was stable. Shugs [head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman], Dr. [Sheldon] Burns and Dr. [Chris] Larson were all with him right there and Shugs and Dr. Burns rode to the hospital with him...Those things [migraines] can be debilitating and obviously that one hit and hit hard. It's always scary for all of our guys when you see a teammate struggling with whatever. We said a quick prayer for him."
Harvin was not participating in the practice. According to reports, he was standing on the field watching practice when he vomited and then fell to the ground.
Harvin, a first-round draft choice by the Vikings out of the University of Florida, was named the NFL's offensive rookie of the year last season.

Prayers up.
I pray for healing.

I pray for healing.
I get cluster migraines. Had a spell last winter that lasted over a month. It was completely debilitating.
Migraines can present with all sorts of bizarre neurological findings. I’ve seen some who lose the ability to see or lose sensation in parts of their body.
And then there’s your bread-and-butter pain, nausea, vomiting, and flashing lights. Like a party. But different.
Prayers for him and his family...Go Gators
I get a few migraines a year and theyre horrible but it’s nothing like Mr. Harvin has gone through. One news source said hes had these since age 10. Yikes!
Kid has a million dollar smile. Get him up to the booth.
Probably from the heat.
I’ve been wondering how bad it must be in those NFL training camps with the high temperatures we’ve had.
Poor fellow; migraines can be absolutely incapacitating when they strike and there isn’t a lot you can do once one hits.
Prayers he finds some long term relief.
Prayers for his health.
No heat today, it was in the 70s and cloudy.
I get ocular migraines but fortunately no headaches with them. I was surprised when my Dr. told me they are not always accompanied by pain.
He must have heard that Bret was coming back.

Migraines come from taking head shots after waiting for cream puff throws from QB giving defenders time to lock and load on the receiver.
That would explain the episodes when he was ten years old.
Hope the Doctors look for a PFO. A hole in the heart easily fixed with a patch.
Once patched it can be the end of migraines.
I’m sure there many possibilities, but it would be nice if it is an easy fix and he suffers no damage.
Prayers for him.
It was an attempt at humor to explain the timing of him leaving when Favre shows up. Never mind.
Thanx I didn’t know that.
In the case of the PFO, unfiltered blood goes from one chamber of the heart into the other. The unfiltered blood carries little clots that are moving through causing the migraines. Big enough clots can cause problems or damage...strokes.
Only reason I know anything about them is our youngest son. He had migraines.
Then his symptoms were very similar to Viking’s and an earlier time suffered double vision for the day his senior year.
The Dr. ruled out his brain as the problem after many tests. He then contacted the cardiologist who found the hole in his heart...a PFO.
It is estimated that 1 in 4 people have this hole that is supposed to close at birth.
Anyway, it was a relatively easy fix. A patch is put in going in through the groin. Recovery is fast.
Plus it was the end to my son’s migraines.
(Dr. said PFOs seem to cause problems in young people growing fast) I suspect physical exertion is part of the trigger, too.
Anytime a kid or young adult has a stroke, this is one thing to checked as a possible cause.
This is just info that everyone needs to be aware of since 1 out of 4 people can have this hole. I had NEVER heard of it.
That doesn’t make much sense since Favre has one of the strongest arms ever. I saw him make a throw at Southern Miss which was simply unbelievable.
