NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Adam Goldstein was a whiz-kid MIT engineering student with an enviable network of tech contacts and a decade of industry experience. He also had a lofty dream: To reinvent Internet flight search.
So he called up his old friend, Reddit co-founder Steve Huffman, and embarked on a summer project. It culminated in this week's launch of Hipmunk, which drew instant acclaim for its new approach to an old but still daunting search challenge: matching travel shoppers with flights. Hipmunk arranges flights on a colorful, user-friendly grid, letting browsers evaluate their options in a blink.
Just days old, the site is already winning rave reviews. "When you see the results you'll never want to see flight results in any other format," TechCrunch gushed. "It's one of those 'that's so obvious why didn't I think of that' moments."

I just go to Southwest.com, why bother with anything else?
Thanks, but I’ll drive or stay home. No desire to put up with the TSA Nazis...red
I’m with you. My kid and grandkids live 2,000 miles away so we fly when we go see them but I drive everywhere else. I hate the airlines and I hate the TSA...why put myself through the stress? Besides...I enjoy driving.
A great site, from a GUI standpoint.
But no SWA, or presumably Allegiant or probably others. I’d rather see a site with all airlines. It’s easy to miss airlines outside the mainstream legacy carriers these sites show.
For example, on a recent trip from LAS to MRY (Las Vegas to Monterey) I took UAL (yuck) because I did not know about Allegiant.
Southwest does not fly to Europe, that is why.
Just searched for an overseas flight using this new site vs kayak.com, and this new site came back with a highter price, $1021 vs $961 on Kayak. I like the results layout, but I’m not sold on it yet. I’ll keep it in my bookmarks and maybe it will get better over time.
Drive, hell no? Traffic, gasoline prices. I'm ridin my horse.
