Serena withdraws from U.S. Open
CNN/SI ^

Classy Serena will not be able to play in the U.S. Open, thus making all the line judges safer, unless she threatens to "shove a ball down their f'ing throat" from the stands. I don't understand the nature of her glass cut - how can something that severe happen in a restaurant that it requires foot surgery, for pete's sake? An additional benefit to her absence will be that we don't have to look at her horrendous wardrobe choices. OMG.

“The Wms sisters are not exactly known as the most gracious “women” on the tour.”

Venus is OK.

Actually Serena would be hardpressed to win a game in three sets. A particularly stupid meme of some sportswriters is that the best female players could beat any male pro not ranked in the top two hundred. A few years ago, during the Australian Open, the Williams sisters challenged any tennis player on the mens tour under the rank of two hundred to a match. A German pro, whose name I don’t remember, agreed to play them consecutively. He hammered both of them and later admitted he didn’t try as hard as he might have. The difference in ability between the sexes in athletic ability is quite large.

Top ranked females are always getting injured. Serena started the year getting smeared by Elena Dementieva but then went on to win two of the four grand slams. While Elena has imploded with nagging injuries of her own.

Interesting! I had forgotten that, but I found it:

In particular, the point he makes about the difference in spin between the women’s and men’s tours is a good one. Not that the Wms sisters would take on a #1, but they say the amount of spin Nadal puts on the ball is unreal, in fact they’ve somehow measured it. Unfortunately, that’s not something that translates well watching from a TV screen.

Yeah, but make it a best of seven and see what happens.

She’d get her rear end kicked. It’s no contest, the same for male against female contest among pros whatever the sport. A few years ago when Martina Navratilova was wasting everyone on the women’s tour (on the tennis court), John McEnroe said that on his worst day, he’d whip Martina love and love in a three set match.

When someone like Rafael Nadal can fire off a first serve with the ball traveling at 148-150 mph, compared to what the best women can do at around 115-120 mph, the Williams sisters wouldn’t have a chance against Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, or any player in the top 50 in on the ATP tour.

You’re assuming Serena is 100% female. And I’m not being sarcastic or exaggerating when I say that. I’m convinced that she’s been on some form of testosterone therapy for years. It’s not just her physique either. Her conduct, attitude, demeanor and mannerisms off the court all point toward something not being right about her femininity.

I have no idea what or if she’s on anything, but she’s built like an NFL running back with huge breast implants. It’s amazing she has not suffered from chronic back problems.

1. Glass falls on floor.
2. Glass breaks.
3. Serena steps on broken glass.

This writer isn't all that bright, is he?

More like the top one thousand. On average, men enjoy a ten percent physical advantage over women. That also translates into men being about ten percent better on average. If I am one percent better than you, in say tennis, I will beat you about sixty to seventy percent of the time. If I am five percent better, I will trounce you about eighty or ninety percent of the time. If I am ten percent better, you might as well not even get on the court because you will be hardpressed to win a game in three sets. The worst male player on the mens tour is still quite a bit better than the best female on the womens tour.
