BEDFORD, Va. -- A driver has been convicted of animal cruelty and fined $100 after Virginia authorities found a goat stuffed in the trunk of her car.

Bedford County sheriff's deputies discovered the goat bound and in the trunk during a drunken driving checkpoint in June.

Fiona Ann Enderby of Washington, D.C., told police she bought the goat from a farmer to give to four passengers in her car, who are from Kenya but reside in Lynchburg in central Virginia.

Thanks for that clip.

Once upon a time Woody Allen was hysterically funny.

Too bad what happened to him over time.

Ever see a sheep being transported by horseback?

No.

I don't see much difference, except the goat was better protected from the elements.

Being locked in a trunk is little different from locking a dog in a car with the window barely cracked open. It becomes an oven on a hot day.

Better they should get a horse to transport their goats.

Are you saying dealing with livestock makes you callous toward them? If not, then what difference does it make?

If you don't deal with livestock, you don't know what constitutes animal cruelty. Separating a calf from it's mother, chasing it into a chute, squeezing the little darlings between a couple of walls so you can rubber band their balls might seem like animal cruelty to some. To others, it's just another day at work.

So it would be cruel to lock a dog in a truck that heats up like an oven, but it would not be cruel to do that to a goat?

It was 97F in the trunk, measured by the cops. That's not an oven. It's ok for a goat for a ride to dinner.

And then the cops took the goat and put it in a REAL metal box in the back of a truck. Where it was hotter.

So it would be okay with you to lock a dog in the trunk on a hot day?

A dog is a pet, and a goat is livestock. 97F is ok for a goat for a ride to dinner. You are conflating two completely different things. The goat wasn't being stored in a trunk, it was being transported.

In my world, the dog rides up front, with me. Mother in law can ride in the back of the truck.

A dog is a pet, and a goat is livestock.

In some countries, dogs are livestock. So you see, your view of animals is skewed based on your culture.

For me, animal cruelty is animal cruelty no matter what animal it is.

And no, I'm not saying we should not eat meat. I am saying the animals should be treated kindly while they are alive, and slaughtered humanely.
