A brawl involving juveniles outside the AMC 24 Theaters in the Aventura Mall on Saturday night resulted in 16 arrests and the early closing of the theater and nearby restaurants.
Aventura police evacuated the area outside the theater shortly after they arrived at 10:09 p.m. Several police and mall security officers were struck by suspects who were resisting arrest, and a few officers reported minor injuries, according to Aventura Police spokesperson Chris Goranitis.

Bush’s fault .... err ... Beck’s fault ... err ... Palin’s fault ... Cheney’s fault ...
I’ve been called a racist on this site before for thinking what I’m thinking about a thread like this, but...
From the comments after the article.
The AMC theater complexes in my (large) NC city aren’t ones you want to hang around on a Saturday night either.
Any local Freepers want to give us the low down on the Aventura Mall situation? Are these repeated brawls going to kill the mall, etc.?

The same thing happened to me a number of years ago at Water Tower Place in Chicago. My fellow movie goers that day were mostly young black people, and I really didn’t think anything of it at first. But when the movie started, there was a constant chatter from the audience which made it difficult to hear. I must say that it was a disappointment.
Some relatives of mine attended a movie at Landover Mall in Maryland, before it was torn down. There too, their fellow movie goers were mostly black. And my relatives commented on how the theater was so dirty and unkempt. They said seats were torn out of the floor, and other seats had the stuffing torn out so just the springs were still attached to the frame of the seats. They decided never to go back there. And for those of you familiar with Landover Mall, you know that eventually most retailers left the mall, and it was eventually torn down due to lack of business.
Landover Mall was the biggest and best mall in Prince George’s County in the 1970’s. I have fond memories of Christmas shopping there, going to flicks, and hanging out at Farrell’s ice cream parlor. Then the demographics changed in a big way. By about 1990, you were taking your life in your hands to go there. Unsurprisingly, fewer and fewer people did...
“Brenda” cracks me up. She reminds me, a little, of a young lady I dated many years ago. Here’s the complete scene from “Scary Movie 1” — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2db-In7Nso
